I have a friend who's side hustle is installing high-end custom wallpaper. It's the weirdest thing I can possibly imagine him doing given his day job. He just loves taking $5000 pieces of paper and slapping it up on the wall with no margin for error. Kind of respect that.

As a kid in the early 90s, helped my parents and grandparents wallpaper their houses.It was beyond frustrating. They even tried wallpapering the ceiling in one room. I still remember grandma yelling FUCK when it fell down during the middle of the night. lmfao

Not many people use wallpaper here anymore. I don't know about Ireland. Store was too specialized. Should have also sold paint, spackle and caulk. Probably sell some tiles too. I lived in an old house built in 1902. It had bumpy horse hair plaster. It had 7 layers of wallpaper and 2 layers of paint on the kitchen walls when I renovated it in the 90's. Had to put new wallpaper because everything was peeling off and the walls were too bumpy to paint directly on top without looking like shit. The plaster looked like it was only going to last a few more decades. If I would still be living there I might be replacing all the old plaster right about now instead of just a section. I live in a house from the 80's and had to remove wallpaper in one bedroom and was sad to see it go. All painted walls in my house now. Unlike when I was living in the 1900's house back in the 90's. All of the old wallpaper I ended up replacing never looked good even before it was peeling off. I was only able to find one old timey style that looked good for the living room. That was the only room where we tried to have it look like the era the house was built in. Yet somehow in my current home that 80's wallpaper looked good even when it was half peeled off the wall almost 30 years later.
