I wanted to share something I had seen while using FB today and the thought it followed. There was a comedy skit type video posted on a woman's social media channel of her husband showing his wife proof of a Flat Earth. The wife's over the top reaction, intended to be the joke of the video, was saying "What does it matter, I've still got bills. What does it matter? Does your flat earth pay my bills? No, no it doesn't, so get that shit out of here I've real things to worry about"The comments on the video rang out expressing sympathy and connectedness over this idea. The general consensus sharing in that feeling of 'what does x matter when I still have to work and pay bills" and that only when their base needs are met, will they consider spending their time on such thoughts. That concerns me greatly. The lack of ability to think of what could be beyond, the lack of willingness to verify, discover, perhaps even to dream, the lack of self awareness needed to recognize that if they do not care to carry curiosity then they are naught but sheep, concerned only with the day's grass. To be fair, I shouldn't have expected anything better from FB. It's like coming here and expecting it not to be filled with autism. But each class of person is capable of comprehending different things.... Can a chimp hope to fly?
