Once you learn these things are just masks of your self you can allow yourself to feel them and that eventually will soften your heart and make it easier to hold the darkness and not let your serpent hiss. Inner transformation is important. To take the darkness and turn it into outward expressions of love and compassion and stuff. Or creative endeavors. I write poetry for example.
