Real talk: was the October 7th attack worth it?Sure, it was the largest single-day mass-killing of Jews in human history and started a war that single-handedly redpilled more people on the JQ than /pol/ could ever dream of. Yet, Gaza is now a wasteland with 80% of its infrastructure destroyed. Anywhere from 70,000 to half a million Palestinians are dead. Hamas is barely holding on. Hezbollah had their asses kicked to the point where they've practically disarmed; their entire leadership is dead. Assad fled Syria and is now living in a cuckshed in Moscow. Iran is a shitshow and the Ayatollah may die from old age any day now.Meanwhile, Israel is stronger than ever and their economy is already recovering. As much as I want to say October 7th proved that the Jew is not invincible, I can't say Hamas were correct for carrying it out. They knew Israel would turn Gaza into a wasteland in response yet didn't care.

>>519512736No, it is a pointless act. The Palestinians have no agency to affect Israel at all, and never have. Hamas doesn't care about the people in gaza. It is little more than a cartel backed by Iranians who don't exactly like the Sunnis. If anything, Oct 7th will mean the end of Palestinian resistance. The most likely scenario is that Israel pushes all of them into Jordan and Egypt, and loses governmental support from the US in the process. But with the Accords, they will continue to exist just with a much weaker connection to the US than before.

>>519513240No. Leadership knows that Iran doesn't give a fuck about them and wouldn't commit seriously. They were banking on Hizballah being more than a wet fart in an elevator. You have to remember with this conflict that groups like Hamas expect to lose militarily, but they are 100% in on the information war aspect of this. They will trade a million lives for bad optics for Israel. They weren't hoping that Hizballah would win on the ground. They were hoping it was bloody enough in Lebanon to cause significant outrage in the international and regional internet. >>519514672Reminds me of anarchist "propaganda of the deed" and insurrectionism. There was a time in the late 19th and early 20th centuries where French, Italian, and Spanish anarchists would go around bombing places where rich people hung out and assassinating factory bosses and politicians. One Italian anarchist even killed the Empress of Austria. One of them also killed President McKinley. Turns out random bombings and assassinations didn't lead to revolution but only caused hundreds of anarchists to be rounded up and imprisoned. A lot of political violence is completely mindless and the people engaging in it often times have delusions of grandeur.

>>519514798>Which explains why China and Russia won't cut ties. They want all that Israeli technology and medical research and whatever else Israel produces.I think they have a decent tech sector. Nowhere near Silicon Valley, but something is better than nothing. Their military hardware is good. A couple of their tank designs could be useful, especially in non-peer conflicts. >Aren't Hamas' actual leaders living lavishly in Qatar? I guess they don't care about Gazan lives because they're not dealing with the carnage head-on.Yep. All in Qatar. Most haven't been in Gaza in decades and are monstrously wealthy. The people who made this call couldn't give two shits about Gaza. Hamas is closer to the Russian Mob than Al Qaeda or ISIS. They have a monopoly on smuggling into Gaza, and they get a blank check from Iran to influence the local crazies on the ground. Until the Abraham Accords, they were happy to keep up business as usual. In all likelihood, Hamas leadership had no choice in the matter. Do Oct 7th, or die type deal. Mossad isn't the only group that can get assassins into Qatar whenever they want.
>>519512736It will be worth it when the war restarts and the remaining palestinians are turned into fertilizer.
>>519514974Terrorism isn't worth the trouble. It never results in what people want it to do. Oftentimes, it does the opposite of the intent. You want to change people's minds about something, put away the bombs, and buy a newspaper. Or whatever the equivalent of a newspaper will be when they all go out of business. >>519515172It's a crap shoot for them. The jew issue is their only pressure valve. It's Iran's scapegoat, but more importantly, it's the region's lightning rod. ME has serious economic issues and some of the most staggering income inequality on the planet. The Saudis can afford to solve their issues with a welfare state, but most of the ME can't afford that. When the region no longer has that lightning rod, who knows what will happen? The status quo killed a lot of religious nutjobs who could have been serious issues for their home countries. My guess is Africa and Europe will be the new Israel, and I don't know what that will look like. But it's a headache to even imagine.

Al-aaacksa flop. The big story over the next few years is going to be how many palestinians leave. Cuz they ain't getting that land back, and no reconstruction will go into Hamas territory unless they disarm, which of course they refuse to do. Oh well.

>>519512736The rank and file Hamas members thought that the Israeli hostages would be used to bargain for the release of Palestinians in Israeli custody. I'm sure they believed that Israel would drop a few bombs, maybe send in a ground raid, but then they'd come to the negotiating table; that's how it normally goes after all. Hamas would lose some guys but most of them would be okay sheltering in the tunnels.I'm sure they didn't expect this level of response from Israel. Plus, even amongst Muslims who aren't zealot enough to join an Islamist terrorist organisation there's the whole 'Allah will take care of it' attitude. They thought they'd humiliate Israeli security, take a few hits in return, then use the hostages to get their people back. So they absolutely got more than they bargained for, but then, they were never the sharpest knives in the drawer. The leadership living in Qatar, on the other hand, got exactly what they wanted. I don't know if they realised Israel would mount this level of response but I don't think they even care. Hell, the more brutal Israel is the better from their perspective. Their real worry was that Israel was on the verge of normalising relations with Saudi Arabia, which would inevitably have led to normalising relations with other Arab countries. That would have been fatal for them, both for the Palestinian long-term goal of uniting the Arab world to destroy Israel, and for them personally as Saudi and the rest of the Arab world would have started cracking down on people making donations. That was their real worry. If the Israel-Saudi deal had gone through Hamas' funding would have taken a serious hit, and there would have been more pressure on Qatar to stop hosting them. Hamas' leadership are rich as fuck and live fairly comfortably in Qatar, they didn't want the gravy train to end. So they achieved their main objective, although even they got more than they bargained for with the recent missile attack on Qatar.
>>519517952Israel and Saudi may very well renew relations anyways.

>>519512736im just here to say>Death to Pissrael
>>519512736>>519517952The real winner in this has been Netanyahu and the Israeli far right. Like the leadership of Hamas, they don't really care how many ordinary people get killed just so long as it advances their long term goals. And their single long term goal is restoring Israel to its Biblical borders.I honestly believe that they've been propping Hamas up for decades. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they had foreknowledge of the October 7th attacks and deliberately decided to let them go through; I've certainly seen reports that the Israelis had prior warnings and didn't act on them. They *want* the cycle of violence to continue until the West Bank and Gaza have been fully integrated into Israel. However, Netanyahu is a Boomer. He's old as fuck. He's still stuck in a time when Jews genuinely did control most of the media infrastructure in America, and when AIPAC were basically unchallenged in American politics. He doesn't seem to get that with the growth of social media, Israel can't keep its war crimes from becoming common knowledge in the West anymore. I don't think he's seriously considered the growth of the Muslim population in Europe either; there's now a big voting block that's capable of exerting real political pressure on European countries to do something about Israel. He's used to being able to hide behind America's skirts, but even amongst the younger generation of American Jews Israel is losing popularity, so that may not be an option for much longer. Israel's actions over the last two years have created a huge amount of anti-Israel sentiment, and I don't think Netanyahu is really aware of the scale of this or has factored in how this will affect Israel in the long term.
>>519518205They may at some point but October 7th and its aftermath have really thrown a wrench in the works. At the very least, what Gaza has suffered over the past two years has put the Palestinian cause back in the spotlight and created a lot of sympathy for their cause. Saudi will have a much harder time politically cracking down on Hamas supporters.
>>519517952It’s very east to ask why the Palestinians simply don’t negotiate and agree to a two-state solution or some kind of peaceful resolution. But the thing everyone keeps forgetting is the sink cost aspect of it all. If a peaceful resolution was achieved all those 80 years of Palestinian suffering and mass death will have been for nothing. That’s why they don’t want to agree to anything: they cannot allow their children to die in vain.
>>519512736Short term win for IsraelLong term win for Hamas
>>519519295>Hamas has gained legitimacyThe ceasefire terms call for Hamas to disarm and give up power completely. If they don't (they won't) that in itself is violation of the terms. They can try to rule over the ashes under continued bombardment. The US and Israel have already stated repeatedly there will be no reconstruction anywhere Hamas tries to remain. And their leaders overseas are going to get Acked. >Turkish and Qatari troops loooool. The funniest part is you thought that post was so insightful you capped it. Moron.
>>519512736>Iran is a shitshowAre you sure about that?

>>519512736The Jews arranged the whole thing to launch the attack on Gaza.Bibi is literally on video saying that they need to support Hamas as part of their strategy going forward, what do people think he meant by that? He used Hamas to get rid of the PLO who weren't religiously affiliated and replaced them with a militant Islamist group specifically for this purpose.Eventually, they will go to war with Syria, after they finish ethnically cleansing Christians from the area.
