You can jury-rig stuff, you can use spares from storage, you can import some things from China. That keeps things going for a while. But you're grinding through your reserves, and if Russia's media is now openly talking about inflation it means things are getting bad. Ukraine has started capturing weapons that are pre-WW2, which means the Russian army is running out of even the WW2 stuff. Russian soldiers are looting their own dead because most of them don't have body armour. A lot of your most educated workers fled the country at the start of the war so they wouldn't be conscripted, and Putin is feeding large parts of the less educated workforce into the meat grinder. What good is a vast coal mine if there are no functioning trucks and no workers to drive them? What good is a tank factory if it has to shut down every other day because it can't source the parts it needs? Sooner or later, you will reach a crisis point where there's just no reserve left that you can fall back on.
