This kind of shutdown happens all the time. Usually the government votes to temporarily fund the government while details and negotiations are worked out. This happened a dozen+ times under Biden and republicans always voted to temporarily fund it. The difference here is democrats are refusing to fund it and using it as extortion in order to gain some sort of concessions. In other words, they’re purposefully shutting the government down and demanding republicans change their budget bill which was legally passed through the house and senate just because they don’t like it. So they’re holding government hostage like a bunch of spoiled children because they have no power at this time. It’s his is 100% a democrat shutdown and everyone knows it. They don’t give two shits about people not getting their paychecks or suspended welfare benefits. They could literally open it up today and loose nothing.
