It was a lie Anon. They only wanted power. The whole “small government” meme just meant that they knew a majority of the country didn’t agree with their beliefs and so they instead focused on enacting a lite version those failed policies in their own states and blamed the Dems on not being fully able to enact it. What they didn’t take into account is that the democrat politicians would be incredibly weak opposition and that they would agree with them on the economic and international interventionist side.
