Come on lads. It has been fifteen years. Where is visit?

Oh well. Another day, another meaningless letter into the bin, like so many before it. I suppose there was a time when I would have looked forward to such a visit and a chance to show off my legal knowledge and really put them in their place.

No more. Now I am jaded. I know it is not real. They know it is not real. I know that they know that that they know yet the letters continue, now purely reduced to ritual.
>>
>>519802849
Maybe you should visit them.

Good idea but theh have neglected to include an address on the letter.

That just shows what a low trust society we have become.
>>
>>519803321
Isn't their address Buckingham Palace? You should take this to the king.
>>
Haha. I have found their address:

British Broadcasting Corporation
Broadcasting House
Portland Place
London W1A 1AA

But what would I write to them about?
>>
>>519803098
Dangerously based.
>>
>>519802849
so you refuse to pay for BBC?
>>
>>519803723
I could threaten to prosecute them for littering my front door. I don't think being sent meaningless letters by harmless cranks would justify anything more. Maybe I could gather the next hundred of these letters and send it to the home address of the director-general of the BBC with a polite request not to litter. I could forget to put a stamp on it so he has to go to the post office and pay to receive it.
>>
>>519803888
You might say so. Me and millions of others. I can't say I enjoy much their programmes. The only TV I have enjoyed in recent years is Clayhanger and Bakuon!!, neither of which were made by the BBC. Oh, and "Watching". They are all free downloads.

But the real reason is simply that it would be a waste of money. What for? It is much cheaper to throw away these letters.
>>
>>519802849
That letter cost the liocense payers a quid. Clownworld
>>
You can't just not have a TV in ingerland, can you?

Epstein, Maxwell, Saville
They love that topic
>>
>>519804461
Yes. Many do, then laugh at the TV loicense man knocking at the door
>>
>>519802849
Holy shit they’ll come to your door and you just ignore them.
Me personally I’d be very scared and probably call the cops. A lot of crims impersonating a gov authority these days. You never know!

I can't believe this shit is still a thing. They tried coming after me when I lived there in the 90s. They had a real tough time understanding their own rules that NTSC televisions were exempt.

Seems like I am not the only one to have received a meaningless letter from Scott Robinson. I certainly don't live anywhere near Oxford so it is a bit strange him being regional manager here and there.

It is all acting. Some people fall for it so it justifies the costs of mass-mailing letters. Media spook Charles Moore got prosecuted for not having a TV licence but no one else is ever.
>>

Nah. A few pence. They are not sent out Royal Mail. Just a Paki on a bike.

This guy documented TWENTY (20) years worth of letters and still didn't get a visit. Johnny Foreigners don't realise they have no power, it's just heavily pushed advertising.

it's just scam mail, but from some gay subset of your government. might have had some merit in the 60's but it's a complete farce now.

Brits really need a revolution worse than we do
>>
>>519804461
Hardly anyone has a TV now anyway. It is all streaming. So the number caught in the theoretical legal obligation falls all the time.

"I only watch Youtube" = no case.

its better than what everyone else in the world has anon. Brits can just decide to not fund their state run propaganda outlet. the rest of us cant avoid it ebcause it either comes from general taxation or they add it on your electric bill etc.

Your public TV (and public TV in many other countries) is paid via taxes. At least we can choose not to pay the licence, you can't exactly choose not to pay tax.
>>
>>519804588
No need to call tbe cops. Anyway, they aren't government officials assuming any of them exist. BBC TV Licencing is a brand name of the BBC which an ordinary company that happens to be government owned. They have no more legal owers than my butcher.

this 100%. i dont understand how people dont get this.

I can't stand Britain. Its a disgusting place

>>
>>519805279
I remember one video where a guy basically followed the licence goon all the way throughout town, and another accusing them of being nonce supporters (true), and another tried it in northern island and they knocked on the door of a unionist and it went as well as you'd expect. It's so easy to bully these twats.
>>519805369
>i dont understand how people dont get this
Yanks unironically believe a lot of the meme posts about licences and various laws without thinking. Like that 1 (one) image of a window with a lock on (probably in a hotel or hospital or something) and believe that every single window in the country is like that.
>>
>>519805605
Nice. They deserve every abuse they received and some more.
>>
>>519804603
See, that's where you went wrong, talking to them. It is always foreigners and colonials who get sucked into this. They have to prove that you have a television capable of receiving signal. No aerial would be enough. Just close the door on them. They have no special powers.

I last saw one of them in 2005 (a nog) and I have zero reason for thinking any such people exist today. Nor did TV detector vans exist outside their own announcements in analogue days.

If they intended to visit me they would. Paper tiger.

Yeah but "he" signs all their letters and is unlikely to be a real person. Regional manager of every region (unspecified).

It is all meaningless.
>>
>>519806109
>license to watch amazon sloppa
Amazon isn't covered by the TV licence, nor is Netflix, so you don't need one to watch that.
>>
>>519806109
>wtf
Read it more carefully. It doesn't say that. It says "covers you". Not the same as broadcast TV and BBC Iplayer where it is (at least notionally) legally required.

That is how resident foreigners get sucked into this. Covered doesn't mean a thing. Certainly no one is stopping you from watching Amazon Prime with a licence but you don't need to.

Not that I would pay for such a service by race mixing perverts.

>>
>>519802849
You should write to them telling them not to contact you and withdrawing their implied right of access to knock on your door. They should acknowledge the letter and they will probably say that they will contact you again in 3 years to check, but that gives you room, and you can just ignore it.

That should be the end of the letters.
>>
>>519805012
>http://www.bbctvlicence.com/2018%20letters.htm
I am a little bit concerned about Scott Robinson's career progression as he has been stuck in that rut signing those letters all day since December 2019. You can't let you career slip by like that.

Also there seems to be very little diversity in their regional enforcement managers. No Shula Roths, no Ngubu Mbyayas and defininatintly no Shanita Mahmoods. Poor show BBC. Not even slightly believable.
>>
>>519807676
I already do ignore it and seeing as there are no knocks on doors ever under any circumstances there is no need to put myself on the crank list by writing to them withdrawing any implied right of access.

It is no trouble putting their letters in the bin along with takeaway menus.

Actually they are the sort of mugs who get prosecuted as they don't know how powerless they are (if real). English people just close the door in their faces. Not that I have seen such a person since 2005.

It is about one letter a month for as long as I can remember. It is just something the letterbox does, like a smoke alarm pip to remind you it is working.

Can you OPT out? Looks like you can from the wording 'If we find you have been watching'
>>
>>519810484
>Can you OPT out?
It's not an opt out system, it's an opt IN system. And you absolutely can choose not to opt in if you don't watch live tv or use the bbc iplayer. Catch up services, youtube, netflix etc don't need a licence.
>>
>>519810484
>Can you OPT out?
Yes, don't pay and in the vanishingly unlikely case they knock on your door tell them to go away.

They have no evidence and without evidence can't get a search warrent. In the even less likely case they really did then "I don't watch broadcast TV" is enough. Who does these days anyway? No one under 60. You would have to have an old style TV aerial and it plugged in which seems pointless. It isn't legally required for using it as a computer monitor to watch anything else you chose.

Where you might be running a risk would be something likeva satellite service like Sky, if they also carry through the air channels. Having no interest in sportsball I couldn't say.

Basically lots of reasons to have something that looks like a TV and isn't. So they have nothing to go on.
>>
it'll probably cost them more than a thousand euros to punish you.
