About 10 years ago I was in a dark place and was feeling serious about hunting down a bully from over 30 years ago. I found his social media and his life was so pathetic that I realized that letting him live was even worse and that I'd be doing him a mercy by ending him. I've also outlived several enemies and others have dealt with major health issues. A more virtuous person than I might not feel the schadenfrued that I do but it's been an important catharsis in getting older. It's actually relieved much of my bitterness and allowed me to move on.
