Excited for my first job! The first day is eight hours of videos on how I have privilege and the importance of DEI, which is learning about how great it is to listen to everyone’s ideas not just my privileged ones. While I am watching the videos an African-American gentleman shoplifts several beauty products, I report to my manager immediately, but he says we are not even allowed to say anything to them. Just ignore it completely and get back to my videos. I am finally ready to start ringing up my first customers!My job seems to be to make sure Spanish-speaking people have enough beer and pregnancy tests to make them happy.I can’t understand what they are saying, but the smile on their faces are so worth it!We are required to run every $20 bill through a machine that make sure it is not counterfeit. This adds 15 minutes per transaction when there is lots of currency.Suddenly, my screen stops, and I must ask my manager, Shanqueeta to make a drop.She informs me if the till is off, I will have to pay for it and she says she needs $15 right away to make the till even and that it was my fault because of my privilege. I could have sworn I counted the right change but I give her $15 anyway and she seems happy. There are locks on all the doors, so I need to remember six separate number combinations to get into the manager‘s office, the break room, the restroom, the locker room, the receiving room, and the stocking room.The technology is amazing! Facial recognition and security camera cameras ever where. I equip my Secret Service, like earphone onto my head, which I will wear for eight hours.When I am not helping Mexicans I am unlocking Sudafed for white people because they are so sick from having so much privledge. It is finally time to clock out but I have almost forgot the mandatory bag inspection for all employees before they leave the store. I am so happy to be working and part of society!
