In a world where even a small injury could lead to death, we evolved to be cautious of things we didn't know. Anyone different to us was a threat. This has continued on into the modern world.Second, racial differences on average. We evolved in separate populations to such an extent that our bones alone can indentify what race we're from. It doesn't just stop at bones, either. Our blood, our tissues, everything about us points to our race. So is it likely our brains are all the same, if everything else about us is different? Obviously, there's mental differences, caused by environmental pressures (Europeans had to plan ahead for winters, Africans didn't, for example) and lead to us having different competencies and capabilities on average.Third, confirmation bias. See enough of a particular race doing something, it becomes a stereotype. It then becomes something you expect. See that same behaviour in your race, it doesn't flag as an issue, though, because you're not paying attention to that for them, you've got your own stereotypes. And while stereotypes exist for a reason, they're not universal across a race.So here's the question, what exactly is wrong with racism? Well, if it's just acknowledgement of differences and being prepared in case a stereotype rings true, then nothing. That's good for everyone and keeps people from danger. However, the issue arises once you make the decision that everyone is the same because of their race, and so guilty of all crimes committed by their race, at which point you're then attacking a potentially innocent person for something they have no control over.Moral of the story, expect to be correct without spite or malice but allow for safe opportunities to be proven wrong.
