I shit you not, I had a female teacher for American history in high school who literally said the same thing. There were no black kids in the class, but she said it with so much sass "blacks got the right to vote before white women, that's how underappreciated women were in society" lmao. It took a few of my classmates a minute to realize it was subtle racism but nobody called her out on it. She probably was in school when segregation ended and was probably one of those kids that had a gun pointed at her to go to school
