has trump actually signed a single trade deal yet
>>
>>519863991
this isnt a trade deal. This is Trump saying he knows his place is at the feet of the chinese without any barking.
Its so pathetic how the decoupling from authoritarian enemies is completely failing across the board.
>>
>>519863555
Every time I say US-China trade escalations are just negotiation tactics I get told that Trump is senile and doesn’t know what he’s doing and then when it predictably was a negotiation tactic it was taco

flip-flopping on tariffs is worse than having or not having tariffs because uncertainty prevents domestic industrial investment
>>519864530
yeah
>>
>>519864768
Trump doesnt know what he wants because he has the whole gambling attitude of seeing how much he can get away with or not.
Evidently, China doesn't take the bullying (by threatening global supply lines) and his "tactic" completely falls apart and he needs to bend over backwards to get his meeting with Xi (which will yield nothing to his benefit. It will be the Alaska photo op in a pathetic trade dispute version.

I think everything trends towards nothing happening either way, US and China are too economically intertwined to break up

In fact I take a more contrarian approach and say it’s possible that America becomes closer to China in the long run

Chinas measures arent just targeting the US though.
They are restricting their export measures to everywhere (our car industry will shut down next week because they lack the imports from China).
China is trying to change the entire power dynamics, and Trump is making it easy for them...
It is so depressing

Why? Because Canada used the words of a well respected Republican President to point out the futility of tariffs? Those snarky bastards!

Here’s another classic:
"If there is a shutdown, I think it would be a tremendously negative mark on the President of the United States" — Trump, 2013.

The same speech was justifying the tariffs he just put on Japan.
