The assumption the industry is making is it sold 200 million copies but if you look at sales by console it doesn't add up. Most likely either there was some other reason people bought copies (possibly for Shark Cards on PC) or the number is bullshit. GTA 4 sold 25 million and between PS3 and 360 for GTA5 its pretty close to that. It wont take down the entire industry as not everyone is funding this game, but it will be a "sign of the times". It would mean the industry has no where to grow or at least no where to grow with old IPs. It may be the end of the half decade long projects as companies realize they need better ROIs. It may mean more divesting from games as investors don't see big returns like in the 2010s. It won't kill the industry but it will signify a paradigm shift. This is assuming it ever comes out
