His name sounds like he's straighr out pulled from Star Wars universe, do Americans really?Whats next, a female president named Khaleesi?
>>520950610what does he want to do? freeze rents? living in NY is ridicolously expensive if you dont have capital for a million dollars what reason do you have to fear him?
>>520950611I would genuinely respect him if he imposed a massive tax on all the vacant luxury apartments owned by foreign oligarchs and actually enforced it. Striking fear in the hearts of the Jews using NYC as one giant real estate investment trust is the only way to prevent the rent from continuing to skyrocket.
>>520950610This guy is smiling 24/7. Creepy guy for sure.
>>520950612BASEDMake it happen
>>520950614Unfortunately it’s a pipe dream. I said “actually enforced it” because it’s virtually impossible to enforce such a tax due to the nature of their owners. Most of those vacant properties are purchased through shell companies and offshore bank accounts, so taxing the real owner is out of the question. The only real solution is to set an extremely strict residency quota requiring the apartment to be occupied for the majority of the year, and if not met the apartment is declared vacant and ownership is transferred to the city. This quota would either force the owner to rent out the apartment or sell it to someone who will. The obvious problems with this solution is that 1) there are a lot of rich American citizens with second or third apartments in NYC that likely wouldn’t meet the residency quotas (and they wouldn’t be happy), and 2) seizing property like this is a bit too close to doin’ a heckin communism for America.
>>520950612>live in one of the most desirable/famous cities in the world>"why the rent be so high o algo"
>>520950616its like a 12 mil city its way bigger then some billionares playground yet the living cost doesnt reflect that i understand the people that votet for him rather then your average neocon that puts being a good goy for israel above all else
>>520950616>being this retardedThe rent is high in NYC because of artificially limited supply. There are countless new apartment developments being built every year that are immediately sold to real estate holdings groups that do nothing but sit on them for years before selling them off to another investor. Literally the only reason these developments keep being built is because it’s insanely profitable for developers to keep building them when it’s guaranteed every unit will sell for basically whatever they charge. You’re always going to make your money back, it’s risk free.If you were to force these apartments to be rented out by their owners it would cause a flood of new apartments to hit the market and rent would decline naturally in the now competitive renter’s market.
>>520950612>Striking fear in the hearts of the Jew-ACK
>>520950611He's economically illiterate, and so are you. Rent control kills housing supply long term and this is well known. Only thing he has against is "imma build this much houses" which he has no control over.
>>520950610>tf>tp
>>520950619You literally have to do this as a NYC politician or else you risk getting car bombed. Although I wish he hadn't.
>>520950610I think he and his cabinet should work for free, instead of begging for donations.
>>520950619wait, so all those conservitards who were saying he's an antisemite Jihadi were wrong? wtf
>>520950620i mean isnt that the exact situation NY is in right now with the based zionist leaders that have ran the city? people needs to spend 70% of their paycheck just to have a reasonable commuting distance to work. i know he cant force developers to build affordable housing they cant even do that in my shithole so imagine that times 100 if you count what a square meter of land costs in new york. but here we are what was the alternative unless you are well of and owns your property in new york?
>sees flagSEAmonkeys never dissapoint.
>>520950620NOOOOO WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE LANDLORDS THIS IS ANTISEMITISM
>>520950610NYC is unironically hell on earth. Worse than even LA.
>NYC is unironically hell on earth. Worse than even LA.
>>520950625>>520950627Change zoning laws. I'd avoid a land value tax since it is NYC and they don't need to pay more. The issue is, that maybe, rent control could be used, since the crisis has effectively metastasized; but I think think Mamdani is the wrong man for the job. Reading his policies, he seems to be a genuine believer that it works. Compare housing costs in Berlin – they tried that, worked briefly, then they made things worse. Mamdani doesn't get it.Also, stop blaming boogiemen, they aren't untying your shoelacing like a cartoon villain.
The united states was always a socialist country. It's the confederacy which wasn't.
>>520950630>Reading his policies, he seems to be a genuine believer that it works. Compare housing costs in Berlin – they tried that, worked briefly, then they made things worse. Mamdani doesn't get it.Fortunately no politician is the one actually drafting the policies, that's why they have cabinets. Politicians are just the figureheads to say what they want to do. It's the job of those they hire to come up with a plan that can actually work when applied to the real world.
>>520950631no it was a frontier country and still keeps some of that spirit like their gun laws
>>520950633That was the confederacy.
>>520950632His cabinet is unfortunately even dumber than him.
>>520950630Berlin's a mess though.
>>520950634no that was the union the confederacy was more clan society isnt the right term but something along those lines. blood and soil
>>520950634The Frontier was mostly Union or Indian territory at the time of the civil war, other than Texas
>>520950617>New York City has a population density of approximately 29,300 people per square mile, making it the most densely populated major city in the United States. Within the city, Manhattan has an even higher density, at over 74,000 people per square mile, the highest of any U.S. countyI wonder why housing costs so much
>>520950636Yes, I was trying to say that. The housing market got screwed even harder by rent control.
>>520950630>Change zoning laws.Won't change much if the state doesn't shake it's fists and NIMBYs can just make it hell for any person or group trying to build more affordable housing or multi-family housing. That and corruption
>>520950639Jews in the south or blacks in the north to blame for this?
>>520950641Welcome to one of the big flaws of democracy.
>>520950639once again it is a city and not a playground for billionaires. millions of people work there and for some reason they dont like paying the majority of their paycheck in rent
>>520950644The entire world would like to live there. Supply and demand
>>520950645works when you talk about companies like amazon. it obviously doesnt work when you have people voting on it
>>520950646Do you think the sandnigger can change market laws? Jej
>>520950647i dont know but i understand why people voted for him instead of cuomo. supply and demand like you would have said jej
>>520950610t. muhammad bintang tampubolon
>>520950648You can stomp your feet and piss yourself but ultimately you're going to have pay a premium for stacking shelves in the big city
>>520950650you were the one that brought up the talking point supply and demand in a democratic election
>>520950612>vacant luxury apartments owned by foreign oligarchs and actually enforced itHe can't because there aren't any
>NYC IS HELL ON EARTH BRO
>>520950653looks like your country lol
