He died by suicide on January 15, 2021, nine days after assisting during the Capitol attack. His death was later ruled a line-of-duty death due to traumatic events experienced during the riot. He was involved in physical altercations during the event and was struck in the face by a metal pole that night. Howard Liebengood - U.S. Capitol Police officer. He died by suicide three days after the riot, reportedly exhausted from long shifts and traumatic stress following the attack. Kyle DeFreytag - Washington Metropolitan Police Department officer who died by suicide in July 2021. He had responded to the Capitol riot. Gunther Hashida - Washington Metropolitan Police Department officer who also died by suicide in July 2021 after responding to the Capitol riot.

At the very least they realized after their first hand experience how dishonest the media and their own political leaders were.Many people don't recover from that kind of realization.
