“We’ve been telling kids for 15 years to learn to code. Well, AI is coming for the coders,” said Rowe. “It’s not coming for the welders. It’s not coming for the plumbers. It’s not coming for the steamfitters, or the pipefitters, or the HVAC. It’s not coming for the electricians.

Don't care didn't ask still going to college FUCK BOOMERS
>>

That’s fine but why do collegecells sethe so hard about tradies?
>>
Oh and a few more things, Mike Rowe
>Holds a college degree
>Has an entire team around him
>Most it not all of the people he employs were required to have a college degree in order to get the job
Seriously, if you are younger person reading this DO NOT fall for this boomer slop. You will work your fingers to the bone in a blue collar job and all of your co-workers will be fat boomer and illegal immigrants men. You will have very little opportunities to meet women if you don't go to college.

AI isn't going to take any serious job. It'll take bullshit jobs, like data managment or some of the coding jobs. Anything where you need to use your brain is safe. As for blue collar jobs, there may come a time when automation is cheaper.

AI won't take your job, but Mexicans working for 1/3 of your rate sure will.

Am I the only one who thinks ai is a big nothingburger? I'm sure it will be disruptive in some areas, just like any other new technology, but I think it probably has some sort of hard limit that it will eventually hit.
>>

Of course. It's mostly going to hit low end white collar jobs like admin, logistics, payroll, customer support, etc. You'll still need humans to oversee the AI but a single worker will be able to do the workload that takes a dozen currently.

Really anon?

Yeah, it's a seearchengine that is less reliable but better at finding shit sometimes.
It has it's legitemate uses to be sure. I use it to find scientific papers, because the tag system used by googlescholar and pubmed is fucking shit. Whereas ai can find stuff based on the text involved and also science forums and any discussion on the topic. Then it can link you to the actual paper, so you don't have to take it's word for anything.
It's also good for writing simple code that is simple enough that it won't fuck it up but complex enough that it would take an hour or two to write manually. Makes life a bit easyer some times.
But people talk about it like it will end or save the world. Which it won't.
