They are bad optics and harmful to patriotism and low hanging fruit for Lefties to pick on. Here in Germany in the 1990s, there were Ossi skinhead orcs who beat up every brown or gay person they saw on the streets, thereby massively holding back patriotism and national consciousness in the german public and portraying it as something barbaric, while the left gained the moral and intellectual upper hand pretty much had a monopole on pop culture and political discourse.
