Are the ACA subsidies going away good or bad?
>its good
it'll be somewhat irritating to pay more per month for my premium, yes. however the big picture matters more. my party stood their ground, dems caved again, their base is furious with them, commies are seething, and illegals arent going to receive gibs through medicaid subsidies to ER's.

That sucks

When obamacare was first proposed they said a small tax increase woudl pay for all of it. Now they're saying it needs the federal government to print money to pay for it or it will implode. So not only are you getting taxed for obamacare, not only is it increasingly unaffordable, but it also failed to be "budget neutral" and is now on the bring of failure. They would never admit it was a failure though
>>
The temporary COVID subsidies you mean OP?

It's a good thing. Now everybody can see what Obamacare really costs. This is what it costs.

government subsidies going away is always good, anybody saying otherwise is looking for gibs

>The U.S. Medical Device Tax (intended to fund obamacare), which was a 2.3% excise tax in effect from 2013 and permanently repealed in December 2019

Devices That Were Taxed
>Implantable devices: Pacemakers, artificial joints, vascular grafts, intraocular lenses, and orthopedic pins.
>Surgical instruments and supplies: Surgical gloves, sutures (absorbable and nonabsorbable), and surgical lasers.
>Diagnostic equipment: Mobile X-ray systems, nuclear magnetic resonance (MRI) systems, CT scanners, and ultrasound equipment.
>Other hospital/professional use items: Catheters, blood pressure cuffs, and blood transfusion kits
>The tax was imposed on the sale price of the device by the manufacturer

So to lower healthcare costs they taxed MRI machines and surgical gloves

To me the saddest part of all of this is that ACA is this stupid Republican healthcare from Romney that's flawed but something. Imagine if it was an actual singlepayer one that could negotiate prices low? But then we have this big fight over some mediocre dogshit and Dems act like polishing and protecting its corners is some big win.

Like Trump even ran on repeal and replace which turned out to be a lie but it's just to showcase the weirdness of it all. I just don't think USA is ready or willing to dig into a reform for something better because they are so policy captured by private insurers who enjoy the system weighted for them.

obamacare was passed with a democrat supermajority, it's essentially the "great society" program of the modern era

They will also never admit that LBJ's welfare for everyone (creating welfare queens) destroyed the US economy

Linda Taylor
>Linda Taylor (born Martha Louise White; c. January 1926 – April 18, 2002) was an American woman who committed extensive welfare fraud and, after the publication of an article in the Chicago Tribune in fall 1974, became identified as the "welfare queen".
>On August 8, 1974, Taylor filed a police report claiming that she had been robbed of $14,000—equivalent to $89,000 in 2024—in "cash, jewelry, and furs".[8] Chicago Detectives Jack Sherwin and Jerry Kush, who took the report, recognized her from a similar, previous report and she came under suspicion for false reporting, for which she was later charged. Additionally, Taylor was suspected of welfare fraud after Sherwin found welfare payment checks made out to multiple different names in her apartment.[
>she used as many as 80 different names, often with false identification documents to match
> Reagan claimed her income had been $150,000—equivalent to $829,000 in 2024—a year
