I have been married for 10 years now. With same woman for 25. I learned a lot about human condition in my midage. Enough to appreciate my wife way more than younger me ever could. I just baiscally do the exact oppossite of any reaction my younger self would have had to any and every situation, and it disolves every conflict and solidifies our union ten fold. My wife has learned the same. awe know when the other has had enough be it of the kids or something and we step right in to booster them instead of reacting with anger. If she wants to lay in bed all day and the sink is full of dishes I'll ask her if she wants me to get her starbucks and I do the dishes. It's not a big fucking deal and it makes all the difference.

I got married because I had gotten my girlfriend pregnant and was in the military, about to deploy to Afghanistan, and wanted her and by proxy my kid to get benefits should I die.
I got back, she decides to quit her job... As an accountant.
She sat on her ass and put on 100 pounds for 15 fucking YEARS!!!
I took a .gov job and things were okay, but I never loved her. Shit I barely liked her.
There is a metaphor for just kind of existing and how it's its own prison. It's true.
I told her I wanted out and was leaving January 1st 2018.
I stupidly stayed married to her on paper, but moved away so she could get my health insurance, etc, but we were separated.
Started seeing a truly wonderful woman.
Have been trading my kid back and forth for years, no problem.
Out of nowhere I get divorce papers. She wants more than half of everything.
Because she filed in MN, the divorce is handled under MN laws, but that didn't stop her from trying to sue my girlfriend for "Alienation of Affection" under SD laws.
For two fucking years and more than $100k she fought and pissed, and fucked around, just to be awarded a big chunk of my TSP (kinda a .mil/.gov 401k) to the tune of $80k and $45k payout.
She gets $1000/month for child support for the next 3 years. .

She lost on the suing my girlfriend deal when the judge told her to fuck off with that shit and insisted a clause be put in the decree that everyone was immune to her bullshit and specifically my girlfriend.
We spent enough money on her trying to steal from me, fucking with my girlfriend, and me defending myself, we could have put my kid through college... Twice.
And it was such a mess that my girlfriend couldn't take it anymore and left a month ago.
Now I'm down to $5000 total net worth.
So is it worth it? No.
Stay single, be happy, work on yourself.
If you find a good woman, let her be part of your personal life, but don't let her be part of your legal life.
If she insists, women come, women go.
But I'll never do it again even if I could somehow get back with my ex girlfriend.
