Here's what Russia's current account did in Q3. They're down -$19B YoY. Imo it's worse than these headline figures suggest because imports have dropped off a cliff because of their recessionary economy. There's just no demand for owt, not even foreign stuff.

>Comparing the propaganda
Be sure to look backwards.
The lies of Russians are constantly revealed by how they haven't changed in 4 years.

For example, given the difference in manpower, if Russians claims about Ukrainian casualties were true for EVEN A FEW MONTHS during this war, then Ukraine would have actually lost.
The basic premise of ALL THIS is that, "Russia should have won quickly, but Ukraine has been overperforming like hell".

On the other hand, you can look at *JUST Russian information* and see the truth of their casualties just because unless you're in a penal unit, there's NO WAY OUT OF THEIR MILITARY except as a casualty.
So when you look at Russian recruitment compared to the unchanging size of their military, you get the casualty count. Very simple.

Have you literally never heard the expression of "Winning every battle, but losing the war"?

And Russia hasn't been "winning every battle" by a LONG shot.
They just ram their heads against a wall, celebrating every victory as a war ender and memory-holing every city that ISN'T taken.

FOUR YEARS of that.
Its not confusing AT ALL if you look backwards on the years of "two more weeks", so yeah, stop being fucking stupid.

I'm concerned with human freedom, the promotion of goodness, and the casting down of sin.

War is the worst thing on Earth, encompassing many if not all other sins, and STARTING A WAR where there was no need is perhaps the worst single sin a human can commit.

If treachery and brutality is rewarded, it is incentivized, thus it is in the interest of ALL HUMANITY that Putin and Russia are cast down and pay for their crimes.

His model is based on past events just like yours
The difference is that his extrapolation and recollection is more plausible
It *is* more likely that russia will fail to continue "advancing at a snails pace" as you yourself state rather than Ukraine being unable to hold them off by engaging in a fighting retreat which they have done for the past 3 years (except for the initial year grand scale failures of the russia)
You fail to acknowledge these significant failures by the russia in 2023 and you also talk about the future, sound like biased, emotionally driven reasoning on your end
Also, regarding "talks of the future" and your retarded deflection there: the moment the first monki was afraid of a snake before it was there was when we started defining humanity you dishonest troglodyte
So you can just leave the thread, your words are worth less than nothing

Ukraine halted russia in 2022 when the plan was for a quick invasion and regime change a-la desert storm
2023 - russia forced into large retreats, ziggers were more extended than the support would allow longer term
Ukraine tried to mount a counteroffensive in 2023 but failed due to too much time having passed amidst idiotic and shortsighted western allies
End of 2023 the war is clearly attritional now
russia does terror campaigns, westshits keep "managing escalation", Ukraine suffers but inflicts disproportional attrition on ziggeria
2024 a few more weapons come in and America elects a corrupt blackmailed child rapist that destabilizes western support and engaged in negotiation farce
2025 Ukraine is finally beginning to strike back at accelerating speeds and magnitudes
russias "red lines" are being crossed and the main income source of russia (petrochems) is being targeted with domestic Ukrainian cruise missile tech (no idiotic escalation managers)
You cannot dispute any of these points and they point towards both parties suffering but russia might well be failing faster than Ukraine
And even then, the strategic goals russia had won't be reached

You have nothing to say so say nothing you retard

Ukraine Begins Serial Production of 'Octopus' Interceptor Drones

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defence announced Friday that it has launched serial production of the "Octopus," a domestically developed drone designed to intercept and destroy Russian "Shahed" attack drones.
The technology, developed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and combat-proven, has been transferred to three manufacturers, with an additional eleven companies preparing their production lines to scale up the output.
Officials state the Octopus is an effective countermeasure against Shahed-type drones, capable of operating at night, at low altitudes, and under electronic warfare conditions like GPS jamming. The move to mass-produce the interceptor aims to significantly bolster Ukraine's air defence capabilities against persistent aerial threats.

Russian Strikes Damage Dozens of Homes and Infrastructure in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk Region

Russian forces launched a wave of attacks across four districts of Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region on Friday, employing artillery, drones, and guided aerial bombs that destroyed homes and damaged civilian infrastructure, Ukrainian officials reported.
In the Synelnykove district, attacks involving guided aerial bombs (KABs) and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) destroyed two private houses and damaged 38 others. The strikes also downed power lines in the Pokrovsk and Petropavlivsk communities.
The Nikopol district came under fire from artillery and FPV drones, with explosions reported in the administrative centre of Nikopol and four other communities, damaging at least one house and a car.
Further attacks were recorded in the Kryvyi Rih and Pavlohrad districts. An FPV drone strike in the Zelenodolsk community of Kryvyi Rih damaged a car, while a UAV attack in the Pavlohrad district caused damage to local infrastructure.
According to preliminary reports from regional authorities, no casualties resulted from the widespread attacks.

Ukrainian Special Police Rescue 63-Year-Old Man After Drone Strike on His Car

A specialist Ukrainian police unit known as the "White Angel" has evacuated a 63-year-old man who sustained shrapnel wounds after his car was hit by a Russian FPV drone in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The incident occurred in the Pokrovsk community of the Synelnykove district, an area under constant threat from Russian attacks.
According to the National Police of Ukraine, the man was one of three people injured in the strike on November 13th. Video of the rescue shows officers providing battlefield first aid to the man's leg before carrying him from his damaged vehicle to an armoured van for transport to a hospital.
The "White Angel" units are tasked with evacuating civilians, including children and the infirm, from front-line areas where the danger is most acute. Authorities have been conducting mandatory evacuations from 22 villages in the region due to the escalating intensity of Russian shelling and persistent drone activity.

Jailed Oligarch Kolomoisky Calls Business Figure a ‘Scapegoat’ in Major Graft Probe

Ukrainian oligarch Ihor Kolomoisky, speaking to journalists from a courtroom where he is fighting his own legal battles, on Friday defended business figure Timur Mindich, calling him a "scapegoat" in a high-profile corruption investigation.
"I believe that Mindich is a ‘strielochnyk’ (scapegoat); he doesn't have what it takes to be a mafia boss," Kolomoisky said during a break in a court hearing. He added that the investigation into Mindich has no connection to his own cases.
Mindich is a key figure in the "Midas" anti-corruption probe, which centres on an alleged scheme to extract kickbacks from contracts with the state-owned nuclear power operator, Energoatom. He reportedly left Ukraine hours before detectives from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau arrived to search his premises earlier this month.
Kolomoisky, who has been in pre-trial detention since last year on separate fraud and money laundering charges, told reporters he had good relations with Mindich and described him as a "good guy."

St. Petersburg to Extend Migrant Work Ban in Taxi and Courier Sectors Through 2026

St. Petersburg city authorities plan to prolong a controversial ban that prevents foreign nationals working on patents from being employed as taxi drivers and couriers for the entirety of 2026.
A draft decree signed by Governor Alexander Beglov, which was published for anti-corruption review, mandates that businesses in these sectors must ensure their foreign workforce complies with the regulation by January 1, 2026. The initial ban was first introduced in the summer of 2025, with officials stating the measure was aimed at "improving the quality and safety of services" and creating job opportunities for Russian citizens.[3]
The governor has also instructed the city's Committee on Labour and Employment to prepare proposals by August 1, 2026, for extending the prohibitions into 2027 and potentially expanding the list of restricted professions.
The ban does not apply to citizens of the Eurasian Economic Union countries—Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan—who have preferential access to the Russian labour market. According to market participants, the restrictions have already led to a significant reduction in the number of available drivers in the city.

It's embarrassing how incompetent they are.

Sweden’s Accession Turns Baltic Into a ‘NATO Lake,’ Top U.S. Admiral Says

With the accession of Sweden, NATO now commands overwhelming naval superiority in the Baltic Sea, which a top U.S. commander described this week as "basically, a Baltic lake full of NATO submarines." The strategic balance in the region has decisively shifted, with allied surface and submarine forces now outnumbering Russia's by a ratio of three or four to one.
The assessment came from U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Bret Grabbe, NATO's top submarine commander, during a press conference held aboard the Dutch frigate HNLMS Van Amstel in Stockholm. The event coincided with "Playbook Merlin 25," a major anti-submarine warfare (ASW) exercise hosted by Sweden from Nov. 10-14, involving forces from nine allied nations.
"With Sweden's addition... that was our first opportunity to add another submarine nation to NATO," Grabbe stated, highlighting the underwater advantage as an "impressive deterrent feature."
Sweden's entry into the alliance in March 2024 has fundamentally altered its defence posture. As noted by Breaking Defence, the Swedish navy's mission has expanded from coastal defence to guarding NATO's entire eastern flank in the strategically vital sea. Swedish Navy Chief Rear Adm. Johan Norlén affirmed this shift, stating, "We are also defending our nations on the other sides… The border is on the eastern shore right now."
The exercise, involving submarines from Sweden and Germany, ships from the Netherlands, France, and Germany, and U.S. aircraft, is designed to leverage Sweden's unique expertise in the challenging underwater conditions of the Baltic Sea to strengthen the alliance's collective security.

Russia Shelves Red Sea Naval Base Plans Amid Sudan’s Raging Civil War

Russia has suspended its long-held plans to establish a naval base in Port Sudan, a major strategic setback that halts Moscow’s ambitions for a permanent military foothold in Africa and a presence east of the Suez Canal.
Russian Ambassador to Sudan, Andrey Chernovol, confirmed the decision, citing the country's devastating civil war, which erupted in 2023. “Given the current military conflict, progress on this issue is currently suspended,” Chernovol said, adding that Sudan is in no position to ratify the agreement.
The deal, first brokered in 2017 with then-President Omar al-Bashir, would have granted Russia a 25-year lease to build and operate a logistics hub capable of hosting up to four warships, including nuclear-powered vessels, and 300 military personnel. It was intended to be Russia’s first naval base in Africa since the Soviet era, providing strategic access to the Indian Ocean and a key global shipping chokepoint.
However, the project has been plagued by instability. The 2019 ousting of al-Bashir and subsequent political turmoil repeatedly stalled the agreement. The current full-scale conflict has now rendered the project untenable, freezing Moscow's strategic expansion in the region.

Ukraine Hits Russian Port, Oil Terminal in Large-Scale Black Sea Attack

Ukrainian forces launched a major coordinated drone and missile attack on Russia's Black Sea infrastructure early Friday, targeting the naval base at Novorossiysk and hitting a major oil terminal, according to officials from both sides. Explosions and air defence fire were reported across Russia's Krasnodar Krai, including in the coastal cities of Anapa, Tuapse, and Gelendzhik.
The Russian Ministry of Defence claimed it thwarted a massive attack, intercepting 66 drones over the Krasnodar region and another 59 over the Black Sea. Despite these efforts, the Sheskharis oil terminal at the port of Novorossiysk was struck, causing a fire and significant damage to a reservoir and mooring facilities. The attack forced a complete suspension of oil exports from the key port, industry sources told Reuters.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated the operation involved both Neptune missiles and various types of drones. It claimed successful strikes on port infrastructure, an S-400 air defence missile system launcher, and a missile depot, resulting in secondary detonations.
In Novorossiysk, falling debris damaged residential buildings, and at least one civilian was hospitalised. The city declared a state of emergency. The attacks prompted the temporary closure of airports in the region as a security precaution.

Wartime Corruption Fears Mount in Ukraine as Public Demands Accountability

Public discontent over corruption in Ukraine is surging, with a new poll revealing that nearly 74% of Ukrainians believe graft has worsened since the full-scale Russian invasion began. The findings underscore a growing crisis of trust in the government's ability to manage the country and its vast streams of foreign aid.
The nationwide survey, conducted by the research company "Sociopolis," found that 73.9% of respondents feel corruption has become more widespread. This perception is fueling calls for high-level accountability. The same poll indicated that a majority of Ukrainians, 62.2%, support the resignation of Andriy Yermak, the powerful head of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s office.
These sentiments are crystallising around a major anti-corruption investigation into the state-owned nuclear power operator, Energoatom. In response to a probe by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) into an alleged kickback scheme involving energy contracts, the Ukrainian government has taken decisive action.
On Wednesday, the cabinet suspended Energoatom's vice president, Jakob Hartmut, along with several other senior managers, including the directors for finance and legal affairs. The move followed the dissolution of the company's supervisory board and calls from the prime minister for the resignations of the ministers for justice and energy. The investigation, dubbed "Midas," centres on an alleged scheme to launder $100 million in kickbacks, with NABU naming Timur Mindich, a former business associate of President Zelensky, as a key figure.

Russia to Remove UAE From Offshore ‘Blacklist’ in 2026, Boosting Business Ties

Russia’s finance ministry has drafted a decree to remove the United Arab Emirates from its official list of offshore jurisdictions, a move set to take effect on January 1, 2026, that will unlock significant tax benefits for Russian companies operating in the Gulf state.
The decision follows the ratification of a comprehensive new double taxation agreement (DTA) between the two countries and major tax reforms within the UAE. The updated treaty, signed in February 2025, establishes modern protocols for the exchange of tax information, a key prerequisite for being delisted. It also sets a 10% tax rate on cross-border income from dividends, interest, and royalties.
Crucially, the UAE’s own domestic tax reforms, particularly the introduction of a 9% federal corporate tax rate effective from 2024, signalled its shift away from a zero-tax regime and toward alignment with international standards, paving the way for its removal from the Russian blacklist.
For Russian businesses, which have flocked to the UAE since 2022, the change is substantial. Currently, a company’s presence on the offshore list prevents Russian parent companies from applying a 0% tax rate on dividends received from subsidiaries in that jurisdiction. Removing the UAE will allow Russian corporations to repatriate profits from their Emirati holdings more efficiently and utilise other intra-group tax relief measures, further cementing the UAE’s role as a critical hub for Russian capital.

IEA Lifts 2025 Oil Demand Forecast on Resilient U.S., China Consumption

The International Energy Agency on Friday raised its forecast for global oil demand growth, citing stronger-than-expected consumption in China and continued resilience in the U.S. that has offset economic headwinds.
In its closely watched monthly Oil Market Report, the IEA said it now expects world oil demand to grow by approximately 790,000 barrels a day in 2025, an upward revision from its previous estimate of 710,000 bpd. The agency projects total global demand will reach 103.88 million bpd next year.
The forecast for 2026 was also revised higher, with demand now seen expanding by 770,000 bpd to a total of 104.65 million bpd.
According to the Paris-based agency, the growth will be led by the United States, China, and Nigeria, with each country expected to contribute an increase of about 120,000 bpd in 2025. While non-OECD countries remain the primary engine of consumption, the IEA noted that demand growth rebounded sharply in the third quarter of 2025, driven largely by stronger deliveries in China as global trade tensions eased.
Despite the upward revision, the projected growth rate remains modest by historical standards, reflecting a broader market slowdown and efficiency gains. The IEA also highlighted a potential market imbalance, cautioning that a "relentless rise in global oil supply could deepen the current imbalance" if demand does not accelerate further. Global oil supply is projected to rise by 3.1 million bpd in 2025 and another 2.5 million bpd in 2026

Former Russian Deputy Defence Minister, Army General Pavel Popov, has been charged with large-scale bribery, according to case materials reviewed by the TASS news agency.
The charges allege that Popov received a Lexus vehicle and an apartment in Moscow for his personal use. In exchange, he allegedly provided preferential treatment and "general patronage" to the construction firm "Bamstroypyt" during its work on buildings for the National Defence Management Centre, a part of the General Staff's structure.
The founder of "Bamstroypyt," Igor Tushkevich, is a key witness in the case, having testified that he provided the assets in exchange for Popov's patronage. General Popov denies the allegations, stating that while he made temporary use of the property, he was not in a position to control the construction contracts or offer preferential conditions. The case is being heard in a closed session at the 235th Garrison Military Court.

Russian consumers are losing up to 1 trillion rubles ($12.5 billion) annually due to misleading packaging and pricing tactics like selling milk in containers just under a litre and eggs in packs of nine, according to the Consumer Union of the Russian Federation.
The consumer rights group has appealed to the government, urging it to mandate that retailers display prices per standardised units, such as a kilogram, a litre, or a dozen, to combat the practice known as "shrinkflation."
This phenomenon, where the quantity of a product is reduced while the price remains the same or increases, has led to a rising number of complaints.
In its letter to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, the Union highlighted that shoppers are often misled by complex price tags that, for instance, show the cost per 100 grams instead of for the full package, or emphasise a special price while obscuring the total cost. The group is also calling for uniform standards for price displays, including consistent font, size, and colour.
This is not the first attempt to address the issue. State Duma deputies had previously brought a similar proposal to the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The current initiative seeks to enforce clearer pricing to prevent what activists call a significant financial drain on Russian households.

A large-scale overnight drone attack on Russia's Black Sea port of Novorossiysk has left at least four people injured and caused damage to an oil terminal, a civilian vessel, and multiple residential buildings, according to local officials.
The governor of the Krasnodar region, Veniamin Kondratyev, reported that fragments from downed drones struck the Sheskharis oil transhipment complex and a container terminal. A civilian ship in the port also sustained damage, with three crew members injured and subsequently hospitalised.
In the residential sector of the city, debris fell on several apartment buildings. One man was injured when fragments hit his fourth-floor apartment and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Windows were shattered in at least three multi-story buildings, but no fires were reported in these locations.
Russia's Ministry of Defence stated that its air defence systems had destroyed or intercepted 216 drones overnight across 11 regions, with 66 downed over the Krasnodar region and another 59 over the Black Sea. Emergency services are working at the impact sites, and vehicle traffic was temporarily restricted in the area. The Sheskharis complex is one of the largest oil and petroleum product terminals in southern Russia.

Gennady Sakharov, a former top manager at the state atomic energy corporation Rosatom, is implicated in a new bribery case involving the construction of the "Atom" pavilion at Moscow's VDNKh exhibition centre. Law enforcement sources allege that Sakharov received approximately 5 million rubles from Rustam Rustambekov, the founder of the construction company "Fensma."
According to the investigation, the payment was made to secure favourable conditions for "Fensma" in winning and executing contracts for the high-profile pavilion, which opened in 2023. Investigators claim the bribe was channelled through Sakharov's wife. Both Mr and Mrs Rustambekov have reportedly fled and have been placed on a federal wanted list.
This case adds to the legal troubles of Sakharov, who previously served as Rosatom's Director for Capital Investments. In May, he was sentenced by Moscow's Meshchansky Court to 12 years in a strict-regime colony for receiving a separate, much larger bribe of about 32.6 million rubles.

Russian investment bank Renaissance Capital is set to acquire the Russian subsidiary of Citigroup in a deal approved by President Vladimir Putin, which will see it take control of assets worth over RUB 1.1tn ($13.8bn).
The transaction for AO Citibank, which ranks among Russia’s top 20 credit institutions, is capped at a heavily discounted price. Based on the bank's stated capital of RUB 132bn, analysts expect the final sale price will not exceed RUB 40bn, reflecting a discount of at least 70%, a common feature in the exit of foreign financial groups from the Russian market.
The deal provides Renaissance Capital with a full banking licence and an existing corporate client base, marking a potential strategic entry into the mainstream banking sector. However, industry observers suggest the asset may have been acquired for a future resale to another investor rather than for long-term integration.
Citigroup has been winding down its Russian operations since 2022, having already sold its consumer loan and credit card portfolios to Uralsib Bank. The remaining entity being sold to Renaissance Capital primarily consists of highly liquid assets, such as interbank placements and funds held at the central bank.

Russia's FSB security service said Friday it had thwarted an assassination attempt against a high-ranking official in Moscow, claiming the plot was orchestrated by Ukrainian special services.
In a statement, the agency said the attack was planned to take place at the capital's prestigious Troekurovskoye Cemetery during the official's visit to the graves of relatives. The name of the targeted official was not disclosed.
The FSB announced that three suspects had been detained in Moscow: a migrant from Central Asia and a married couple described as previously convicted Russian nationals with a history of drug addiction. A fourth suspect, who is wanted in Russia on separate murder and weapons charges, is believed to be in Kyiv.
According to the FSB, the agents installed a surveillance camera camouflaged as a flower vase near the gravesite to prepare for the attack. The agency added that it had seized communication devices containing correspondence between the detainees and a purported Ukrainian intelligence handler.

Description per source (quoting excerpt as is):

Import substitution has turned out to be a more complex task than anticipated.

Details:
The constant discrepancies between official plans and reality have become an unfortunate feature of modern Russian life. Robots falling on stage, unbuilt aeroplanes, unreleased processors, defective and overpriced domestic cars – all of this creates an unnecessary negative atmosphere in society. The difficult economic situation within the country and the West's sanctions war are indeed complicating the work of domestic companies. In these conditions, every success becomes doubly valuable. But boastfulness or frequent promises of unrealistic future successes have already become a problem in themselves. Do we need to proclaim development programs that are not backed by resources or simulate a high technological level for products without sufficient grounds? Achieving technological sovereignty is a difficult path that will take decades, requiring not PR but a well-thought-out and persistent state policy.

A massive and unprecedented volume of crude oil, estimated at nearly one billion barrels, is currently held in tankers at sea, with a large and growing portion originating from sanctioned nations Russia, Iran, and Venezuela. This surge in "floating storage" reflects significant dislocations in the global energy trade caused by Western sanctions, which are creating bottlenecks and forcing producers to find alternative routes and buyers.
Since late August, the amount of oil stored on ships has jumped by approximately 40%, with most of the increase attributed to barrels from Russia, Iran, and Venezuela, or from untraceable origins. Russian oil accounts for the largest share of this build-up. The accumulation is not necessarily due to a lack of demand, but rather to the logistical hurdles created by sanctions.
Tighter enforcement, particularly U.S. sanctions targeting major Russian producers Rosneft and Lukoil, has made some buyers, such as Indian refineries, hesitant to accept cargoes, leaving tankers stranded. In response, sanctioned countries are increasingly reliant on a "shadow fleet" of older tankers that often take longer, more opaque routes to evade detection, further contributing to delays and rising freight costs, with daily tanker rates soaring above $100,000.
This floating inventory threatens the revenue of sanctioned oil producers and could create a significant oversupply on the global market, impacting future oil prices as traders watch to see how and when these barrels will eventually be discharged.

Constitutional Court Weighs "Shadow" Status of Crypto Investors

1/2

The case of Dmitry Timchenko could legalize judicial protection for undeclared digital assets.

The Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation has commenced hearings on a precedent-setting complaint filed by Moscow investor Dmitry Timchenko, which challenges the constitutionality of the Federal Law on Digital Financial Assets (DFA). The plaintiff contends that current regulations effectively strip cryptocurrency owners of judicial protection, equating the lack of tax reporting with a loss of property rights.
The dispute stems from a 2023 incident where Mr Timchenko purchased 1,000 USDT (Tether) for approximately 81,500 rubles and transferred the assets to a third party, Nikolay Shumakov, for trading purposes. When the funds were not returned, lower courts—including the Savelovsky District Court—dismissed Timchenko's civil suit. They cited Part 6 of Article 14 of the Law on DFA, which prohibits the judicial defence of claims related to digital currency if the owner has not informed the Federal Tax Service (FNS) of the transaction and their holdings.
During the open session on November 13, the plaintiff's counsel, Marat Amanliev, argued that this provision creates a discriminatory paradox: while the Civil Code recognises cryptocurrency as property, the Law on DFA makes its protection conditional on administrative procedures that, critically, have not yet been fully established by the government. "The right to judicial protection is constitutional and cannot depend on fiscal reporting," Amanliev stated.

Representatives of the legislative authorities offered a divergent view, suggesting a potential technical resolution to the case. Senator Andrey Klishas noted that USDT—a stablecoin issued by a centralised entity (Tether Limited)—does not fit the strict legal definition of "digital currency" in Russia, which refers to decentralised systems like Bitcoin. Consequently, authorities argued that the restrictions of Article 14 should not have applied to Timchenko's case in the first place, potentially classifying his assets as "foreign digital rights" rather than cryptocurrency. A ruling is expected in the coming weeks.

Russia's State Duma has advanced a bill to enhance lifetime benefits for senior judges, but the measure sparked a rare and fiery debate in which opposition lawmakers accused the judiciary of corruption and exceptionalism.
The bill, introduced by the Supreme Court and passed in its first reading on November 13 with 387 votes in favour and only one against, aims to encourage experienced judges to remain in the system. It would allow them to step down from senior posts, such as court chairmanships, to lower positions without it affecting the calculation of their lifetime monetary support, which would remain based on their former, higher salary.
Oleg Zatelepin, a representative from the Supreme Court, argued the changes would "strengthen the personnel potential of the judicial system" by preventing an exodus of qualified personnel seeking to lock in higher retirement benefits.
However, the proposal drew sharp criticism from the Communist and A Just Russia parties. Lawmaker Mikhail Matveev questioned the presumed link between high judicial salaries and a lack of corruption, asking for statistics to support the claim, which the Supreme Court representative could not provide. Others contrasted the proposed benefits with the pensions of military personnel, doctors, and teachers.
The debate escalated when the president's representative in the Duma, Garry Minkh, retorted by reminding the critical deputies of their own high salaries. The session's chairman accused the opposition of attempting to "mock the judicial branch."

Fun fact, NATO has given Ukraine the equivalent to like a third of Russia's annual GDP, not every year but in the span of all these 3 plus years, even if you accounted for donations, actual people volunteering to fight and access to intel it wont probably come near total russian GDP.
So yeah, Russia is getting contained and bleed for the geopolitical equivalent of NATO pocket money. The reality is this is a minor affair for US and a minor issue for EU when it comes to money.
>>
>>521392289
Ever since the frontlines stabilised in 2022 all refugees should have been sent back to help with the war effort. This should have been coupled with release of frozen Russian assets to pay for rapid Ukrainian militarisation as well as European defence supply chains to make sure lots of weapons flow eastward.
Even though that's ancient history now, like in all walks of life, it's never too late to start doing the right thing.

While NATO equipment has helped, the vast majority of Ukraine's military is armed with domestically produced weapons and old soviet stockpile, basically the same shit the Russians are using or in some cases worse. Modernized T-62s are blowing up T-90Ms, not because the former is a vastly superior tank but because the latter is consistently put in situations where it's vulnerable to the former.

The disparity is one of training, organization and morale. Both sides extensively use drones and Russia even beat Ukraine to the punch with fibre optics, but Ukraine has consistently made better use of drones because of how their units are organized, trained and led. The huge Russian failures in the first year owed a lot to the abject failure of the BTG concept, a formation which simply did not hold up in serious combat and undermined their entire force.

But above all that the most important difference is just that Russia is on the offensive and Ukraine is on the defensive. Ukraine has the advantage of well-fortified positions established in advance across most of the frontline and Russia has largely struggled to develop and implement operations to successfully overcome these defenses without heavy losses. At times, they've struck on effective new tactics and suddenly shifted the battlefield, but then the other side adapts and progress slows again. Attacking prepared defenses when you don't have a method for overcoming prepared defenses just ensures you'll suffer excessive casualties.

The important of defenses in Ukraine's overall strategy is evident when you see how willingly they vacate unfortified positions and cede ground, as long as there's a more developed fortifications somewhere to retreat towards.

>Russian failures in the first year owed a lot to the abject failure of the BTG concept,
The idea is pretty solid for defensive purposes. Small semi-independent formations being used to engage and delay the enemy, not letting the enemy burst through any one axis without their flanks immediately being exposed. All the while retreating into the vastness of USSR taking advantage of being able to fall back into your own logistic lines and constantly be reinforced or rotated.

On offensive the lack of dedicated logistic companies and different tactical groups vying for same ever shrinking pool of supplies meant they could never keep up the attack especially as they went deeper into Ukraine. Meanwhile the small formation size meant they could never decisively break through enemy lines and even if they could they couldn't exploit it because you can't achieve operational success with individual 600 strong formations. Especially when Russian NCO and field officer corps obviously sucks major ass.
