Can a Puerto Rican run for US president?
>>
>>521777110
Well, if elon mutt wants and thinks he will be president, why not a US territory?
>>
And should they be able to?

Technically, Musk shouldn't be allowed to run as he is a foreign-born citizen.

>>
>>521778345
Puerto Rica seems to have some special status within the US and is, as a result, rather poor, among other things. It also has its own (international) flag, a web domain (.pr) and other things. Hence it being somewhat surprising.
I wonder how much being a Puerto Rican would affect a presidential candidate's chances of winning the election. Would regular Americans be more or less willing to vote for them than say, for someone from Wyoming?

If you ever struggle with getting a post out or need a burner ip, there's a handy service for that. Kinda sluggish these days without the special pass though because of so many people using it.
Otherwise public IPs work fine, just have to get a new one and wait out the countdown.
Be warned, even though these pics aren't against the rules by any means imaginary, they always delete those if they see them.

Someone told me janitors themselves don't delete stuff but only forward it to the mods. Maybe the mods are allowed to interpret the rules as they see fit? Either way, I wouldn't read too much into it, clearly something's broken here and/or they have hidden rules they're not sharing with us.

>Puerto Rica seems to have some special status within the US and is, as a result, rather poor, among other things. It also has its own (international) flag, a web domain (.pr) and other things. Hence it being somewhat surprising.
It can be confusing, but if you’ve ever heard want to understand what Puerto Rico is to us, think of it like Denmark and Greenland. The USA is Denmark and Puerto Rico is Greenland.

>I wonder how much being a Puerto Rican would affect a presidential candidate's chances of winning the election.
Unfortunately, it would probably be more likely for a Puerto Rican to win the presidency in the America of today than someone from Wyoming. It cannot be understated how foreign the inner cities are. Most don’t identify as American, and the ones that do are black. Almost no whites in the cities. Puerto Ricans, like other minorities, are apolitical besides what party they perceive to benefit them the most as a group, so they’d vote for a Puerto Rican regardless of party over a white every time. Also, there are 4 times as many ethnic Puerto Ricans on the mainland than on the island itself. Yes, you read that right, so it’s a guaranteed 6 million or so votes because island dwellers can’t vote.
>Would regular Americans be more or less willing to vote for them than say, for someone from Wyoming?
Regular Americans as in people who have roots in this country before the 1960s? No, but the problem is that the Wyoming candidate would almost certainly be white and conservative, while the Puerto Rican would be a Democrat and sweep their vote based in policy amongst liberal whites, while minorities would vote in droves for the candidate on account of them being brown. 1st, 2nd, 3rd generation immigrants would be swept by Puerto Rican candidate.

Famous American politician Alexandria Ocasio Cortez is Puerto Rican, better known as AOC.

>What would be the odds of them even running, let alone winning? If your opinion is commonly shared by the mainlanders, then maybe this isn't an issue for you.

The chance of a Puerto Rican running is significant to me. There’s millions more on the mainland here than there are on the island itself due to mass immigration since the 1940s. They’re very prominent in NYC and surrounding areas now.

The only well-known mainland politician of Puerto Rican origin right now is AOC, but I could easily see many more of them becoming prominent politicians in the coming decades.

Any hypothetical candidate would likely win the entirety of the Puerto Rican vote, all Democrat voting demographics, and, depending on the incumbent party and their ratings, possibly swing voters. For a candidate from Wyoming (almost certainly white and conservative) to beat a Puerto Rican in the current era, it would have to be at the end of an unpopular Democrat presidential term. The Puerto Rican would win the Hispanic vote with the exception of Cubans and right-wing Latinos in the Southwest.

To sum it up, the likelihood of a Puerto Rican candidate is high, but winning depends on voter satisfaction with the Democratic Party in comparison to Republicans at that time.

Ha, what a clownshow. In their defense, it's not like the two political parties are that different, looks like you're mostly deciding which color or animal looks better and get shafted all the same regardless, and if they can't agree on the way to shaft you the government freezes until they do.

True, but it used to be better. A big part of why the parties are so subpar today is because Dems saw an opportunity to permanently secure minority votes in the middle of the 20th century, and ever since it’s been downhill. Republicans refuse to anything other but follow them in a delayed fashion. In the past, Americans would switch between parties because both were fine and agreed on 90% of things compared to today, so nobody gave a shit. Now, they switch between both part because they’re both so bad. We’ve come full circle.
>Grim.

I think I remember them being left without electricity and basic amenities for a while following a hurricane a few years back, with them asking US for help and the US either not committing or doing it begrudgingly or something, for shame.
>The kikes historically destroyed its economy and stole farm land away from farmers.
Classic.
>disgustingly high crime rate
A shame but that place is also densely packed. This plus economic hardships must provide fertile ground for that. Google says it's almost 3x the US average, pretty bad but not the end of the world, I guess, at least from a glass-half-full perspective.

Is this the mechanic that can turn PR into a full-fledged state then? Would be fun to see. Not that it would change much for someone not directly involved but modern maps are boring because hardly any borders have changed in the past ~35 years and besides a US president who adds more states to US after so long of a break would be well-remembered one way or another (I guess the idea is controversial atm).
>Americans would switch between parties because both were fine and agreed on 90% of things compared to today, so nobody gave a shit. Now, they switch between both part because they’re both so bad.
Ah well, that's a shame. I swear this is a global trend these days, parties either don't promise citizens what they really want to hear, or do promise and then go back on those — and there is no repercussion for it.

For Brunschwelleposter it is. He seems to attract all sorts of odd happenings. Last week, he even summoned a ghost to commune with, spooking the janitors into saging his thread. Either way, oughtta be careful with the hellhound pics, this isn't /bant/, they're more hateful here. I mean it's always nice to see more of there, just have to separate risky posts from safe posts, so that the latter don't end up deleted along with the rest.
Then again, nothing lasts forever, especially on a board as fast-paced as this.

Are you retarded. There was millions of Puerto Ricans in the us prior to the 1960s moron.
https://www.nytimes.com/1975/06/22/archives/for-hispanos-its-still-the-promised-land-the-island-in-the-city-is.html
“Now they were part of New York's huge Hispanic population—two of the city's most anonymous, most invisible people. They explained what had happened to them—and, even with its political idiosyncracies, their story was like those of many Hispanos we interviewed; they and hundreds of thousands of Dominicans, Cubans, Colombians, Argentinians and Peruvians have transformed New York's Hispanic community from a Puerto Rican “island in the city” (as writer Dan Wakefield once called it) to a “continent in the city.” The majority of the Hispanic community, now estimated at 1.5 million to 2.5 million, is still Puerto Rican, but others are coming in ever‐increasing numbers, and are the focus of this article.”

New York City has historically been filled with Puerto Ricans since the 1940s.

In fact salsa’s roots are actually not from Puerto Rico itself. Salsa comes from Nuyoricans in nyc during the 1960s

Theirs is a sick flag for sure, but they still get to keep it as a state flag. Texas' lone star is still fairly well-known, California has a recognizable one etc.
Maybe they wouldn't want it to lose the status though, I guess? Cuba's flag looks the same but with colors inverted, maybe Cubans would mock PRs for their flag not being "real" anymore or something ...when they have internet connection.
>remember those miles of cock smoked to make this 'appen?
They can probably bribe them with kids or something, I dunno.
> annex Greenland
Oh, figured Trump forgot about that plan of his.
Maybe he'll suddenly remember about the thing closer to the midterms?

>>521789579
Getting freebies from corporations is another issue at hand, how "lobbying" isn't outlawed is beyond me. Like even now Trump just keeps swinging the stocks up and down by announcing stuff then either going through with it or going back on it. Obviously someone out there knows which statements are feints and just buy on the dips.

I keep messing up the spelling. Bruchette? Brunhilde? Bridgette? It's tough to memorize especially when not trying too hard.

You could say that, I suppose, though he probably would disagree. We first met in these:

and hit it off fast as testified by all these lovely posts.
