I suspect it only clamps down on peoples creativity, and now games aren't made because there are good ideas, but because they need another release pumped out. Just the name, among other things about that game, is offputting. I can't tell you how many games I've put off because of basic thing they could get right that they actively sidestep and I know I'm one of MANY people. Most men don't want to play a military game for example, with a female yelling in their ear or butch females fighting alongside them. Many things which are done to "appeal to more people" sacrifice potential customers. Gaming needs to appeal to less. No calssic loved by many was made with the mindset "HMM, HOW CAN WE APPEAL TO THE LARGEST NUMBER OF PEOPLE POSSIBLE?", not one. It's actually not hard to make the right decisions, but DEI stuff, among other things became such commonplace people are now shocked people don't like it, I think they are actually LEGITIMATELY perplexed as to why people don't like it.It all comes back to basic fact's about human nature that modern failed societal exeriments have worked in spite of.

I also think the corperate-ization of both publishers and developers is what is ruining gaming. They both demand investors. They want money, and they want it now. Then because of the lawsuit of Dodge V Ford it resulted in companies having a priority of investors first. Because of that, have to find more ways to make money from the game. This is where live service comes in. Selling skins and shit for more money, making sure there's an independant client with connection to servers at all times to ensure not only the game isn't pirated, but you haven't found a way to access content from microtransactions without paying. Even with whales purchasing everything it's costing more money than what is brought in to run the servers for offline singleplayer games. It's not even remotely offsetting what would be lost to piracy. All of this because of investors.
