Dispensational pre-mil eschatology is what causes this. Mostly relegated to fundamentalist Baptists and charismatics. Good news is that it's a dying theological belief system, largely seen as error at best, and heresy at worst. Important to note that the majority of baptists (especially the broadly reformed) reject this belief in favor of amil, or post-mil eschatology and the younger generations are essentially unified in complete rejection of it.The amount of damage Israel has done to their theological, and international perceptions in the last few years is unreal. They really turned most of the world against them. All they've got anymore are the Western corporatist idolizers, and a small aging group of American evangelicals.. and bizarrely a significant portion of Catholic leadership apparently.. While everyone else seems to be losing sympathy for Israel, the papacy seems to be growing in it..
