>70 cent difference

So brand is pretty power-LESS if you really think about it. Four hundred million dollars in marketing upsold this guy for… seventy fucking cents. That’s the less than the tax on an actual item, not one that’s competitively priced. This story is also a fabrication, no one really gives a shit what salt they are using. Women like to bicker about how they save money or they need something kosher but in reality what they purchase is dictated by a budget…. The budget for this whore’s frivolity was 70 cents.

Marketing is powerless. Again, imagine just the price of the ink they waste printing this package. Seventy cents.

store brand sweet cream, for example, has 78% butterfat and the rest water. that's 2% more water than the standard US 80%+ butterfat for sweet cream. they cut corners somewhere to get them that cheap. you can calculate it by dividing the serving size in grams with the fat content in grams to get the butterfat percentage.
>>
>>522059681
A projected fear of shame from others if they're seen with the cheaper poverty-branded product, even though more often than not the poverty-brand is the highest quality.

Some products are actually the best by brand thus when you make a particular recipe, yes you buy that. For other things it's irrelevant. I find the output from different brands of noodles is interesting, some are stickyer some are gooeyer. Pic rel is an example, if marinating obviously, but if you are just making sandwiches for kids? I stress, for somethings there is no difference.
>>
>>522060006
Yeah I started using road salt because I was a cheap bastard and figured it's the same shit since it's still 100% NaCl. Then I started noticing grits and shit in the bottom of the pot when I boiled water for my pasta so I went back to buying the flaky jew salt. It's one of the few things they do right. I wish other companies made flaky salt, but it is what it is.
>>
>>522059866
Based. Brand loyalty is for suckers and consoomers
>>
>>522060182
sure, and im glad that there are the cheapest choices on offer. sometimes you need that option and sometimes the store brand stuff is just fine. i buy the cheapest packs of salt for preserving and stuff...but dont like it for use on the table. the slightly more expensive stuff has a nicer texture etc.

Name brand for specific features - probiotics, certain flavors, etc.

Store brand when possible - random pasta, random sugar, etc.

I agree OP, it is stupid to buy $8 marinara sauce when the $2 sauce is the exact same

I have a great example of consumer retardation. Leica cameras. Recently they released a "new" digital compact camera costing $2k. It is the same camera as a Panasonic released in 2019 with some minor tweaks in terms of button layout and higher resolution screen etc, but functionally still a Panasonic from 2019. The original Panasonic can be had second hand for $500. Leica is like the camera industry's answer to Iphone, except even more overpriced and retarded. Branding has inherent value.
In order to maintain a brand, the company first and foremost must retain its reputation.
This implies a higher level of quality control, as any scandal from say, heavy metal contamination, would harm the brand and reduce the premium it produces.
Meanwhile, no-name brands can weather scandal simply by changing to a new brand.
No history means no trust from the consumer.
It doesn't matter that they're the same product now. The concern is whether they will be the same product tomorrow.
And that is why we willingly - and rationally - pay extra for branded goods.

There's something about the salt, it's probably a global conspiracy to control human eating patterns and prop up fast food industries globally.

There's a reason entries are bland and desert is sweet as well.
If you eat sweet before the meal, you don't need as much. So they feed you corn chips with a specific kind of salt on them. It makes you more hungry so you keep ordering more food. And they give you sweet desert after so your body craves salt.

Don't go down the salt rabbit hole, or do. But you won't see eating or the entirety of the food industry the same way afterwards.

Theyre regulated for quality. Garuanteed the name brands are probably made in china anyway. One of our major brands does manufacture in the EU and Aus, but they also have a major facility in Sri Lanka. So why pay ten times more to go off the coast of india from a different flavour of jeet?

My husband went online yesterday with "stress relief" on the list.
He compared the generic import — The Dickstroyer 3000 ($19.99) — to the Fleshlight Helium FX ($89.95).
Same size. Same silicone. 350% price difference. (He has an analytical mind.)
He knew this was a pure price vs. brand test.
And yet... he said he "couldn't do it".
He had to have the discreet flashlight casing.
That's the power of brand — imagery, heritage, trust, suction.
It's not just a masturbator anymore.
We all have brands like that, the ones we can't not buy.
What's one synthetic orifice you're loyal to, even when you know the alternatives are the same?
(Fun fact: The Fleshlight was created in the 90s to show that "pleasure doesn't need a partner". Everyone's TPE sleeve does that now, but somehow we still want the brand. That's the enduring power of iconography - symbols that outlast the features they were built to sell.)

Himalayan salt is much better than regular salt. I will spend 100% more for Himalayan no questions asked.

That's not a hyphen, but an em dash. Hyphens are easy to use, because it's a key readily available even on phone touchpads. Em dashes are AI slop when used in modern text.
