Russia can pump gas cheaper, deliver it cheaper. And now they're offering a 40% discount if countries sign in and lock in their prices for a couple years, it's much more attractive than betting your economy on the whims of the major oil producers.This gas will primarily be used here in North America, when exported it gets pretty expensive. So Russian and American gas won't really directly compete with each other. It will be interesting to see how these next few years of the Oil Wars will go. Consumers will benefit. Just Stop Oil types will screech.
