my first job was working at Publix in the deli 'department' which was really just a glorified subway that let you get cuts of deli meat.
Anyway, they have a lot of corporate nonsense there that is basically designed to keep new employees as a slave caste while a clique of older employees sit in the kitchen doing basically nothing.
I was not allowed to do anything but the sub line because of this. A sub line that was so overworked, due in part of being near a Uni Campus and the idiotic, psychologically damaging design of the island, that people would quit mid shift. On top of all this we have to deal with a mixture of drunk college kids and the bitchiest old people in the world.
It was actually hell and I don't blame my generation at all for just saying fuck you to theses stupid jobs.

What a load of shit. Try unloading trucks in the summer. The trailers turn into ovens - over 100 degrees inside. Not to mention handling cardboard all day dries out of your hand and your sinuses fill up with dirt. You take a shower when you get home and your nose starts pouring black snot. The place I worked didn't even have access to drinking water. They had a water cooler but it was always empty, so you had to bring your own bottles of water and hope no one stole them. The back of the trailers were dark, so they set up these hot work lights pointing directly at your face. I considered it a good day when the headache did start until after lunch and I could just power through the rest of my shift. Easily the worst job I ever had.
