The reason the defendants aren't making more of a call to MAGA for a pardon is that the President of the United States can only pardon Federal Crimes, their STATE CONVICTIONS for the state of Georgia still stand. This is a weird bullshit thing the law where a pardon can effectively nullify the punishment but for other legal purposes the conviction still stands. The State conviction appeal case is weakened if they still have a federal conviction on the record for the hate crime. Yes even if one is pardoned they are still "convicted" in the sense it can be used against you in other legal proceedings. Another example would if someone commits a crime, gets a pardon, then goes out and does another one and gets convinced. During sentencing the Judge can consider your previous conviction. Yes that is retarded as fuck and needs the Supreme Court to fix that shit but that's how it is.
