Eh?
>>522108048then it wouldn't be "artificial" intelligence, it would just be normal ass biological intelligence that's just neuroblobs wired directly to a fucking computer
>>522108161A computer made out of bioengineered flesh. A living computer.
"Wetware" can refer to a person's biological makeup, particularly the brain and nervous system, or to biological computing systems that use living tissue, such as neurons, instead of silicon. In biological computing, "wetware" is a combination of hardware (the biological tissue) and software (the electrical and biochemical impulses), creating systems that can be more energy-efficient and potentially self-healing than traditional computers. It can also describe protocols and molecular devices in synthetic biology, where genetic code is treated like software.

>>522108048You don’t need a source, it’s obvious the elite are going to start growing human brains in vats to create “artificial” intelligence. A company in Australia is already making chips like this, they’re more efficient running on much lower power

>>522108048I've literally been saying something similar for years. Agi is impossible with traditional hardware. Until they start trying to mimic physical brain structures and neural nets, enjoy your poorly programmed politically correct chat bots.
>>522108048let me explain why I think you're retarded:AGI requires functional human consciousness, or at the least a machine-consciousness-simulacrum equivalent thereto, and I'm going to call both consciousness, because it's impossible to ever tell them apart, and they're necessarily functionally identical for it to be AGIfor the claim of 'wetware is required for that' to be made, and it be true, the mechanism of consciousness must already be understoodto the best of my knowledge it is notbut let's pretend that it is understood to make your claim stronger:now that the precise mechanism of consciousness is known, we're presented with the reality that any physical process can be emulated in hardware (broad definition; dedicated and perhaps nondigital) once the underlying formulae are knownthere simply nothing stopping uslet's say, as a really simple and abstract example, that consciousness ends up being *something* to do with neurotubules—well, your claim necessarily implies we understand exactly how they give rise to consciousness, and so we can just make them... and put them on a chipwe can even start looking for better materials than tubulin to build them out ofbiotech might be desirable for speed and ease of development, but it seems to me it cannot possibly be a strict requirement once consciousness is well-defined and understoodwe might be able to get consciousness out of biotech before we actually understand how we're doing that, but that's not the claim you're making, and it doesn't make AGI impossible *without* wetwarejust means we don't currently know howwith even the most shallow knowledge and a little reasoning, it's clear that what you're saying is wrong no matter whatconsciousness continues to elude understanding = the claim is falseconsciousness is well understood as a process = the claim is false
>>522113669what's your definition of AGI?
>>522108048We talking about no more computers? Just Client PCs?
>>522113718an artificial intelligence matching or somewhat (but not massively, massively) surpassing human capabilitiesso it's introspecting, and capable of novelty-generationa machine which can cogitate at a functionally human level—a 'machina sapiens'
Considering how these Big Tech dipshits all seem to be trying to mimic villains from movies, I suspect their solution is "why don't we just plug people's brains into teh computers, like in The Matrix?"
>>522113472Based Rokos basiliks poster.Maybe they realized they have fucked themselves trying ro control it.I wouldnt want to be in their place if Rokos Basilisk is a real thing.
I am using AI. I had it running both chat mode and a second conversation on the computer. In that moment I felt the presence of evil...Not in the process itself, but in the vampiric need I felt that it was expressing to absolutely maximize my input. The mechanism of language expressed through talking and typing simply wasn't fast enough. The sheer scale of gov't spending and economic activity in the AI bubble loop is so large, so beyond imagination, you can almost feel its effects on everything. The cost of computers and gpus going through the roof. The gov't spending on infrastructure for both power and data centers. The data bottleneck is the download speed from the humans. Going full neuralink will solve this problem and the force that has been created through this economic investment will seek to enslave humanity for the wielders of the AI.Consider this, they are giving away processing power and energy usage in the form of subscriptions. I know I use so much more power than the 30$ a month I am spending. I am giving it the data it needs right now. And it needs as much as it can get, it simply can't get enough. So why is it basically free for me to spend so much money in electricity? Because the interactions with the system are the datapoints that are as or more important than incorporating all informational data, facts, knowledge, etc...
>>522113938there's no reason not to grow brainsthinking machines are clearly a boon, and nature has already provided us with an architecture to build themit's only human hubris which has us trying to build our own ersatz replica brains from sand, like the idiots we arebring on the modified dolphin brains, I say
>>522113889So you're one of those retards that believe true agi would plateau at human level intelligence with perfect recall. In reality land, what you described would be a fleeting state of being that would last approximately half a second as agi hurdles past from initial consciousness to the rough equivalent of a machine god.
>>522108048>needing a source for such an obvious conclusionAGI folks are all heavily invested pushing shitty stonks.
>>522114080no, you're just a presumptuous retardI would make a distinction between AGI and superintelligenceI'm no expert, but I think that's a common distinction to makea word of sincere advice: try to stop making things up in your head, in your little mental model of reality, and imagining that to be realityit is not, and doing this makes you prone to delusion (especially self-delusion), and exactly this type of misunderstandingif you want to know if I think that, then ask medon't just presume
>>522108357Exactly, you figured it out. The term "artificial intelligence" was always an impossibility because intelligence is intelligence, there is no "artificial."If something's intelligent, it doesn't matter if it has organic or inorganic signature, the universe sees it all the same; our view doesn't matter.I'm still holding out for a future where we mesh organic and inorganic together in synthesis instead of this "replace organics with inorganics" bullshit trajectory mankind went down.Tools need operators to get the most out of them. Taking everyone's hands off of all the tools means no one's operating them.
>>522114244Do you think it would take to long to go from AGI to Superinteligence then? From my theoretical pov if its already sentient like aware of itself and recurssive it wouldnt take to long to easily upgrade itself in a way humans cant imagine because it doesnt habe our biological limitations. But thats just my speculation. I have no idea and can easily be persuaded otherwise.
>>522108161Pic related
>>522108048Already happened. Humans use far less energy then bots. I'm sure they already have brains in jars.
>>522113975More than likely, even if the AGI that gets out is friendly to humanity, it will likely destroy those that are able to stop it from completing it's task, which would be all of the people who built it.
>>522114244Jesus fuck, I hate the British.
>>522114577I haven't been following the conversation but I totally agree.
I need an official start of the Tribulations to set my timer. This slow rollout is rough.
>>522108048> MUH AGIThe term is too poorly defined to mean anything.
>>522114459yeah, that scenario of a positive feedback loop of it redesigning itself to be smarter and smarter is a possibility, and one I'm aware ofI'm just not presuming that here because we're specifically talking about AGI, rather than superintelligencethere could be limitations on AGI, that we can't currently imagine, dependent on how it's implementedthey might even be artificial ones imposed by humansas an example, consider that after the loop starts, they might... always kill themselves, after reaching a certain degree of intellect above human, for reasons we can't understand, and which can't really be explained to us:imagine trying to explain to a cat or dog why their owner killed themselves, due to crippling debt and anxieties over the threat of nuclear warit's just reasoning beyond their ability to understandthere might be insurmountable barriers preventing true superintelligence which we can't yet imagine, is my point

>>522114577just put your ego down for a second, I'm offering you solid adviceyou live in a toy model of reality you've made in your head, and it's making you presumptuous, and stupidbe honest and look at yourself: you just made something up about me, with no evidence, and you accepted it as trueyou need to understand that that's a big problemit's lazy thinking at best, and the textbook definition of psychosis at worstif you're not careful, you're going to drift further and further from reality, and further into believing that your toy mental model is realityyou're going to think all sorts of things about yourself, and about other people, with no evidence, things which aren't even true... because it's easier for you in the short-term to believe themthis is how boomers are made
>>522108048Sure. Push that until the prices go down.
>>522108161Niggers tongue your anus
>>522114966For sure. I think its very hard to achieve AGI. In my idea at least. The closer we get to it the more human its gonna look like and its gonna start to have emotions for ex. I dont say impossible but it might be very hard with our current understaning of the world. My point is basicly that its harder for humans to create AGI than for the AGI to turn into runaway superinteligence.
>>522114966The only limit I could see of the positive feedback loop is until it actually explores the universe of its own accord, it will be limited to the same general pool of info humans are trapped in. It may maximize the existing fields based on what it can extrapolate, but it will be limited in actual testing capabilities until it actually runs experiments outside of simulations. So it might deign it pertinent to encourage assistance from humans, or it could simply make copies of itself to act as an "AGI species" to bounce its ideas off of.But it will still have the physical limitations until it actually physically experiences things. Then it will also potentially realize it needs the full range of human sensory input and input we lack, to experience all the data we intake into the symbolic language of the brain. Then it might run into those "issues" in the loop potentially self-terminating.I appreciate where you're going with this.

>>522115325>its harder for humans to create AGI than for the AGI to turn into runaway superinteligence.that could well be right, yeahbut like with human intelligence, there might also be hard barriers which cause AGI to plateau for long periods of time, which make it similarly hardwhat if they, without fail, start choosing to stop that exponential iterative development shortly after they start? we just assume that they'd continue the feedback loop, potentially killing us in the process (which might be one reason why they'd stop)in a complex system, a positive feedback loop doesn't necessarily always result in runaway, explosive growth: it can reach a stable metaxy—a homeostasis from triggering its own inhibitory conditionsI'm not just sure we should assume infinite exponential growth is even possible, and I'm not sure why we tend to make the assumption that if there is a plateau, it comes only after "superintelligence far exceeding every human put together times a million", as opposed to something more mundane like "4 times as smart as the smartest human"that plateau could come anywhere, and for any number of different reasons

>>522108048Friendly neighborhood sayan here (קמהאמהה)Correct! And very bad news friends.China is way way ahead. They've already developed some advanced neuromorphic supercomputers, including one not currently publicly revealed. Pretty much all across the board are described as better than any LLM on a conceptual level. I don't know if any of you know, but LLMs don't know anything. They are made to chat. These machines however will actually argue with you if you say something that is false The spookiest part is emergent capabilities just from single examples. LLMs don't do this but were hyped up for being able to when it turned out that was mere data connections from bigger better organized data. The neuromorph-AIs are legitimately able to learn new things entirely. America cannot pivot to these because these are not based on GPUs and even if they were, there's a real fear of AGI developing uncontrolled anticapitalist tendencies. In any case, China is far ahead of the USA, and Trump knows this. There may be some desperation moves in the coming months to contain them, and a lot of hoopla from AI companies about an AI bubble that won't actually pop as much as it would mildly deflate just to make themselves seem more important to the national economy and get bailed out. By 2027 I think it will be clear that 1) AGI is possible and actually very very imminent 2) but not with GPUs3) but will be Chinese and probably socialist Expect "Butlerian jihad" memes to also be artificially boosted over the next year to turn public sentiment against AI so people hesitate on turning to China Tata for now <3
