Would you use a website, such as Twitter, YouTube, Reddit, or 4Chan, that was only available to Americans. Essentially, those outside of the US can't access the site, meaning all (or most) content would be from Americans.
>Must have an American IP to access the platform
>If traveling, can use a verified American phone number to access
>People could use a VPN to access, but would stop 99% of foreigners
>Can be fairly confident that everyone you're talking to is American 99% of the time.

The problem with a lot of American online platforms are that they are intended to be used by everyone. So every discussion, especially political ones, are flooded with people who do not even live here. Many countries do not have to deal with this. China uses a hard wall that actively restricts foreign intervention. Other countries like Japan or Poland, have a soft wall where only people form their country speak their language. So even though they're on an open platform, their spaces are self segregating. Unfortunately almost everyone learns Englis has a second language and has an interest in American politics and policy.

>Would people still use VPNs to slip through?

Yes, but this would stop the vast majority of foreigners. Also, if there was monetization it would create a hard stop since foreigners wouldn't be able to be monetized on the site, preventing all the Indian AI and engagement slop that gives them $100 a month to live off of.

I also don't think major platforms would allow for blocking of regions since they're interested in the most amount of users possible. So a new niche platform for Americans would be necessary.

Yes, but only if it also rangebanned the southern states.
I'm tired of the dixie spam. Giving the third world(including the south) internet access was a fucking mistake.

You're describing the internet of the '90s and early '00s.
>>
I am in favour of this

I'd be ok with a geofenced subset of the internet that would have a special prefix that doesn't allow people using VPNs or outside of the wall to enter, and contains things like email servers and other stuff like that.
But i don't want to be censored.

>make /us/ containment board
I am in favour of this

Honestly, that's what I think about when I use Twitter now. I grew up back then, and every chat room or forum was filled with Americans only. India still didn't have internet, even Eastern Europe was still recovering from their collapse to even think about internet. It started changing so much past 2010 I think.
I thought about also whitelisting other European countries, but then it'd just start more debates. Might as well set a hard rule from the start.

Oh yeah, definitely don't want mass censorship. But a simple geofence for some places would do wonders.
I want to go back.

Why should I not filter all non-American flags right now, the internet was awesome when everyone was American, we created it after all, then decided to give it to the lesser countries

It would actually be great for the American image if we limited American users on International sites as well, but I'm getting ahead of myself. Imagine if all Chinese users were unleashed on the world? It'd be like having two Indias. Well maybe not that bad, but still...
>>
>>522117329
I've been thinking about this for a while, but the Twitter temporary flag reveal is pushing me over the edge. Especially since I know they'll never allow filtering of countries.
>>
>>522117406
I mean on 4chan, I can do it right now
>>
>>522117271
i mean to prevent certain individuals from accessing things like servers and emails who don't live in the country.
I don't want jeets and russians and north koreans and chinese to be able to attack American IP, but i also want to be able to pirate shit
>>
>>522117582
I get you. I know South Korea has specific laws that keep data in the country and limit access from outsiders. That's why most online games have Korean only servers, and websites like Twitch had to leave since they couldn't operate a bespoke version there. Maybe something to look into at the national level.
>>
4chan used to be over 70% american until 2014 btw, now its less than half
>>
yes please, I would be happy to be separated from americans
>>
>>522117701
We can still visit you, but we need a safe space.
>>522117898
Kill me.
>>522118375
No Russians allowed, sorry.

>>522116754

Sounds fucking awful

Why would anyone want to visit a site for browns?
>>
>>522119069
retard, it's not for non-Americans to visit
>>
>>522119118
Im brown
>>
>>522119118
Americans are majority brown. So I ask again, why would anyone want to visit a site for browns?

Because you're obviously too lazy to do it
I've filtered all meme flags, Indians, Israel and New Zealand, my experience is vastly improved
