>Lost their robotics, shipbuilding, rockets, nuclear, construction, machine tool, chemicals, lithography, software, semiconductors, electronics, hydrogen, biotech, aviation industry
>Failed to venture into any new technology for the last 30 years, all their remaining tech companies are decades old giants that are just coasting along on their old reputation and inertia
>They are not even bothering to try to develop new tech, there's basically zero activity in the Japanese A.I industry for example
>Even their education and R&D system is shit, with Japanese universities falling and falling behind in the rankings every year, this days, it's rare to find a single Jap uni in the top 50 of various rankings
>The Japanese government has no plans to reignite innovation, their only response to the crisis for the last two decade is to blame China/South korea for their decline and trying to import even more and more jeets
>All while their main regional rivals, China and SK, are racing ahead at full speed at all the emerging technology of the future.

Japan is decaying hard. Technology is sole reason why they're relevant, and they're rapidly falling behind in literally every front. Otherwise they have nothing else. Their demographics and geography are shit, , they have very little farmland or natural resources and they're surrounded by nuclear armed enemy states. Tech is the sole reason why they have been so successful over the last century, and they're basically losing everything across the board. There's basically zero areas of the cutting edge that Japan is leading in. Taiwan has TMSC, SK has Samsung and Hydinx, America and China has dozens of leading edge companies in basically every field, even Europe has Airbus, Deepmind and ASML. Japan has....

Even their cultural exports are falling behind SK and China. At this rate, Japan is gonna to become a 3rd world nation within the next 20 years, alongside the UK. The next thailand, only relevant as a tourism and sex resort.

It's already happened, bro. Japanese female youth are flocking en masse to the sex industry. They're not even bothering with college or careers anymore, just straight to the streets. Japanese media tries to paint it as though all these thousands of women are just poor brainwashed victims of host clubs, but the reality is that the women are cunning enough to realize that they can make more in a few hours of sex work then with a week's worth of wage slaving. Japan is already a country of prostitutes.

/dbt/ here, i will lay out one such example that we all know about; motorcycles and the big 4: honda yamaha suzuki kawasaki
Lets examine euro emissions as an example also, being constrsinrd on motorcycles which if you release yearly updates (exception being something like the suzuki k5 engine block up until recently) youre seeing increasing pressures to meet emissions requirements, which is hardly a issue on motorbikes because almost everyone puts their own mods especially exhausts
A moped or motorbike isnt going to emit any climate change cult shenanagins enough to smog out your neighbourhood unless it were a fleet of 2smokes
That being said, millenials are poor as shit, zoomers are also poor and fearful of everything (imagine coming of age and then plandemic hits instead of 9/11 for most of us)
These are many such broad examples
Ok so how do manufacturers respond?
Well, apart from their racing devisions and supersport element, theyre scaling things down to cuckmobiles with parralel twin and triple engine blocks- fast bikes but on a scale to unlocked power in bigger engines with hogh compression or high revving high hp i4s, things become a new normal so to speak of standardization from factory
Case in point: yamaha killed the r6 and the r1 other than special order for track use only - where its the tracks emission and noise standards not the government, theyve replaced them eith the r7 and r9 respectively
Now numbers of displacement cc might look rivaling to your average nobike
>r6 is like 599cc
>woah dudebro im a nobike andn700cc sounds more fast!
No, the r6 pushijg above 100hp and the r7 barely over 70-85
There is a noticable difference
>note: nothing is stopping mr.zoomer from getting zoomies on a clapped out used sneederbike, by all means cheaper to own and insure and maintain after certain years
But we exist in an infanite money hack world, so yamaha doing this is scooping the longterm poorfag customer base in an growing first/age of purchase

Noe i make mention of motorbikes as one reason: specifically youd be able to gradually notice the cultural nuiances of ownership within the local community changebwith gradual decline in quality of life and socieoeconomic factors
It is both a) expedient to buy a used motorcycle because theyre usually low mileage
And b) lower overall cost of ownership compared to 4 wheelers cars and automotives and trucks for a convenient daily
They are also more adapting and spacious in walkable city memes because half of a lane of traffic and theyre more agile than a cage unless its a forklift
Anyway
Point is, if things start getting shittier, people will be forced to bikes and other forms of transportation because theyll be priced out of cars, and new cars will be extremely expensive by comparison
Wages have been stagnant since the 70s/80s as per purchasing power relative to cost of living and inflatoion- logscale mind you, so i think the shrinkflation is also going to meet an adjacent trend towards more motorcycles as the cost of ownership becomes incompatible with indiced globohomo and other fske and gay shit
But in doing so i think the government is going to ban supersports, cant have that kind of power in the new normal, possibly inclusive of outdoor adventures and activities like motocamping
Cant trust a climate change cultist

https://japandaily.jp/honda-has-become-japans-first-private-company-to-launch-and-land-a-reusable-rocket/#:~:text=In%20a%20surprising%20leap%20into%20the%20aerospace%20sector%2C,at%20its%20facility%20in%20Taiki%20Town%2C%20Hokkaido%2C%20Japan.

In a surprising leap into the aerospace sector, Honda R&D Co., Ltd., the research and development arm of Honda Motor Co., Ltd., successfully conducted a launch and landing test of an experimental reusable rocket on June 17, 2025, at its facility in Taiki Town, Hokkaido, Japan. The test, announced as a milestone toward achieving suborbital spaceflight by 2029, marks the first time Honda has launched and landed a rocket, reaching an altitude of 271.4 meters and landing within 37 centimeters of its target. This achievement underscores Honda’s ambitions to diversify its technological portfolio beyond automotive innovation, leveraging its expertise in combustion, control, and automated driving systems to explore sustainable space transportation.

Japan’s Growing Space Ecosystem

Honda’s achievement comes amid a surge of interest in Japan’s private space sector. The Japanese government has set an ambitious goal to double its space industry to 8 trillion yen (approximately $55.2 billion) by the early 2030s, supported by a multibillion-dollar venture fund for private rockets and satellites. Honda’s domestic rival, Toyota, has also entered the space race, investing in Taiki-based Interstellar Technologies to mass-produce launch vehicles. Meanwhile, startups like Innovative Space Carrier are planning reusable rocket tests, signaling a convergence of automotive and aerospace expertise in Japan.

The space economy is expected to grow to $1.8 trillion by 2035, from using satellite data for resource management, manufacturing pharmaceuticals and material in microgravity on space stations to mining resources and building infrastructure on the moon. This will create unprecedented opportunities for innovation and value creation in every sector and industry.

Currently, Japan’s space industry is valued at JPY 4 trillion (around $26 billion) and the plan of the government is to expand to JPY 8 trillion (~$52 billion) by the early 2030s. In 2024, Japan has achieved significant milestones including becoming the fifth country to land a spacecraft on the moon.

Astroscale, a company headquartered in Japan, succeeded in the world’s first attempt to safely approach and observe space debris encouraging commercial space debris removal. Perhaps the most impactful of them all, the government’s Space Strategy Fund launched and will pump JPY 1 trillion (around $6.6 billion) into the market through Japan’s space agency, JAXA, in the next 10 years.

What made the Japs so good at technology to begin with?

10-20 years ago people considered Japan to be this alien high tech society that we are far behind. And in some areas we still may be. But whatever quality made them advance like that in tech is probably still present and once they get new focus and objectives could we expect them to start advancing in tech again?
