TL;DR: DJI Drones Ban in the US

>Current Status:
DJI drones aren't fully banned yet, but they're on a fast track to one. Under the FY2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a federal security audit of DJI (a Chinese company dominating ~75% of the global drone market) was required by Dec 23, 2025. No agency has started it despite DJI's repeated pleas, so DJI will automatically hit the FCC's "Covered List" on that date, blocking imports, sales, and FCC certifications for all new DJI products (drones, cameras, etc.).

>Why?
National security fears: U.S. lawmakers claim DJI drones could spy for China, use forced labor, or have backdoors, though DJI denies this, has never sold military gear, and wants the audit to prove it's safe. It's also a push to boost American drone makers.

>What Happens Next?
>New gear: Can't be imported/sold after Dec 23; 2025 models like Mavic 4 Pro are already hit by customs delays (not a full ban, per DJI).
>Existing owners: Your drone stays legal, no confiscations or shutdowns. Firmware updates and apps might get tricky long-term, but repairs could dry up as parts become scarce.
>Impacts: Hits pros hard (public safety, farming, inspections, 2/3 of businesses say they'd fold without DJI).

~30 days left until china drones are banned. What are the political implications? Protectionism? Chinese spy equipment? Government doesnt want people to own drones after seeing what is happening in Ukraine?
>>
Drones are a big future military technology and the USA is far behind on this front.
They need domestic producers for these kind of low cost simple drones. Right now US drone production is centred around either very large or very expensive drones (or often both)

So by banning DJI they hope to encourage domestic competitors to emerge and fill the gap.
They can then be exploited for military purposes later on

did tik tok get banned
it hasn't even been sold yet
nothing will happen
>>
>>522133915
Tik Tok is insanely popular, an estimated 1 out of every 3 US adults use it. A ban on Tik Tok was asking for trouble. Banning DJI drones on the other hand only affects the small community of drone nerds
>>
>>522133555
Political shit excuses... the only valid reason Is so American drones can compete.
>>
>>522133555
>has never sold military gear
Yeah, the jury's out on this one.
>>
Why is the us government afraid of the American public owning drones?

Oh look another elicitation post to get people to spill their fuckin guts about what they know...

>Elicitation is the process of drawing information out of someone through strategic conversation rather than direct questioning, and it can be used in various contexts like security, business, research, and teaching.

>Techniques include FEIGNING IGNORANCE, using flattery, or making false statements to prompt corrections, while exploiting psychological tendencies like curiosity or the desire to correct others helps to naturally extract information.

go fuck yourself

It's because Ukraine is using them and they're better than anything defense contractors in the US can make, so naturally the US just bans it's competition and guess what is going to replace it? Nothing, because everything is fucking banned here like North Korea, North Korea may even have more lenient laws than some cities. We could be using these drones for pipe line leaks and yet we're not.

this is bullshit. the drones from china are very good and over america drones. china drone are very safe and quality is very high. america drones are bad like all america make goods.

The irony is that people in the US are already making custom drones domestically that are superior to DJI, but the US is trying to force defense contractors into the market so they can just take a shit ton of public money without delivering a market competitive product.

Gosh golly gee Beave, why WOULD anyone be worried or afraid after ~100M invaders flooded into the US including ~5 full divisions of CCP male operatives coming through the Darien Gap?
Golly, just let us have toy helicopters already...

Are we still worried about adversarial spies when Trump publishing Russian plans as his own?

Not to mention all the SSN data he gave to Elon and DOGE.

I have a DJI lightweight drone that I don't need FAA registration to fly. It's alright. Pretty sturdy for what it is but it's got like a 12 minute flight time only. I used it to see where woodpeckers have been pecking off parts of my chimney

This is just another attack in the 2A.
They're banning drones because they think Americans are going to use them as weapons.
>>
>>522135018
Shut the fuck up nigger! You’re probably some fucking poo or Russian gay nigger! It’s my constitutional right to owned a fucking drone!
>>
>>522133773
The irony is that people in the US are already making custom drones domestically that are superior to DJI, but almost none of these can be made at scale. They are also inferior to prototypes made by backyard Chinese citizens. The US is trying to force defense contractors into the market so their R&D can be financed by the US consumer. But in a way, also create a monopoly with no real competition or innovation. Just to take a shit ton of public money without delivering a market competitive product.
>>
>>522135145
One of many.
>>
>>522135445
Custom drones that are superior in spec but much more expensive.
Scale and price per unit is what matters here.
That you sprung extra for top shelf japanese motors and a carbon fibre frame is irrelevant. It's too expensive.

This is literally how tariffs and import bans work in regards to encouraging domestic production.
>>
>>522133555
chinese backdoor, or no backdoor at all, both are problem.
they want that all civilian drones get the jewish backdoors. then they can do what theyre afraid of the chinese doing.
>>
DJI drones are weapons grade gadget.
Lawmakers are fearing rebels who have thousands of drones.

>This is just another attack in the 2A.
This.
China was actually providing you the means of getting rid of the parassites all along.
Sad that you know knew how to use them for taking wedding photographies and for making youtube videos.

They are custom modified for military purposes.

A small community of drone needs is a serious national security threat? Pick a side retard. You make the dumbest argument ever.
>>
>>522136673
Where did i say they were a security threat you faggot retard? I'm saying there isnt as much pushback due to the lower number of DJI owners
>>
>>522133555
Just dji? Not a blanket drone ban? What about chink made i fag phones
