Drones are a big future military technology and the USA is far behind on this front.They need domestic producers for these kind of low cost simple drones. Right now US drone production is centred around either very large or very expensive drones (or often both) So by banning DJI they hope to encourage domestic competitors to emerge and fill the gap.They can then be exploited for military purposes later on
