I screen all calls. If they aren't in my contacts I don't answer, if it is important they can leave a message.
I'm not a store, strangers have no business calling me for anything ever.
I rarely get scam calls at all and the only time I ever had a significant number was after CVS strong-armed me into giving them my number to fill a prescription.
Never give your number to companies ever no matter how much they claim it is just used for security or emergencies or some similar bullshit.

I doubt they can do much with it. My family knows about such scams and we have a protocol to ask for a secret word (silly childhood nickname) if they ever get a weird phone call with my voice. I have zero social media presence and I'm a massive loner so there isn't a lot to find about me.
