The algorithms are what mostly determine what type of content people will see, regardless of who has created it.Obviously, China's government doesn't want American oligarchs to control what Chinese people see and hear. Likewise, the US government doesn't want China's ByteDance to have control over what Americans see and hear. The only surprising thing is that so many other countries allow foreign oligarchs to control their media space.
