Is this some pseudo-economic or is it actually true?
>>522567081>pseudo-economicBS*
It's more of an inflation indicator. Of course you're going to get record profits when everything costs more. the fact that sales were down the months leading into the holidays and that people are waiting for black friday to spend also does indicate negative consumer sentiment. you're going to see a lot of layoffs and purse strings tightening after the new year
>>522567081It's all bullshit. The best way to deal with the economy is to use your instincts. Go out into the world and just interact with it on a daily basis and get a feel for how it's operating. If you get a strong sense that something bad is about to happen, then start preparing.Or if you are lazy you can just make it a habit to never stop preparing because the bad times will eventually catch up with you.
>>522567081>cope from a shorting faggotthe economy is going to boom
>>522567081On one hand ppl spent moreOn another they waited for cheap prices cuz they had toIdk
You retards are missing out on the bull market of a lifetime
>>522567081We don't have children to buy presents for so what's the point of christmas shopping eh
>prices go up 90%>people spend 9% moreMY GDP IS SO HIGH! CAPITALISM WORKS LETS IMPORT 10,0000,00000000 INDIANS TO OWN THE LEFT!
>>522567081literally everybody including your own dumb self has an angle. every single person. information isn't "information" anymore. how many times do you have to be told that your entire system and society and anyone upholding it needs to be E X P U N G E D
>>522567081Highly likely yes, thanks to 'buy now, pay later' schemes.Which means there are loads of credit defaults in horizon next year.
>>522567081>everything 20% more expensive>made 9% more this yearWow it do be like that

>>522568164>winter is coming
>>522567081Plot twist. It was all on food.
Yes people tend to spend more money during sales during economic downturns. The flip side is that they're spending less money when there isn't a sale.
War is peace. Freedom is slavery.I'm convinced the only way to stop leftists is to get them dictionaries. They literally do not understand the meaning of words. Men are women. Words are violence. Record profits is recession.
>>522568834You think people with kids have money?
>>522567081It's false because the US government has a lot of ammo when it comes to dodging the inbound recession. More than the 2007 and 2020 ones.
>>522569861All its currently doing is propping up the AI companies to make the numbers look good and even that isn't working. There's layoffs, debt delinquencies, etc.
>>522569861I’m really concerned that we kept putting up fortifications to prevent economic downturns but then it doesn’t let the market self regulate by capitalism’s own logic.Unironic Feudalist here
>>522567081Its wishy washy at best. People more focused on savings, overall spending down yea its not exactly a good dynamic.
>>522567081someone at an upscale fashion shop in berlin told me, quarter turnover is down 50% vs. last year despite price reductions and how she was wondering why shops would be so empty on 'black friday'. even supermarkets had reduced their prices, some by 50%, but not many people seemed to care. the reductions btw tell a lot about the profits they're making.
>>522567081Great take from India
>>522568164Well, this is a fucking retarded idea>>522567081Money is worthless, invest in water and bullets
>>522567081>"This is roughly $2 billion more than the 2024 holiday season, when BNPL drove $18.2 billion in online spend," the company said. " BNPL usage on Cyber Monday is expected to hit a new milestone and cross $1 billion ($1.04 billion, up 5% YoY)."If you read the article a lot of that was spent using BNPL and more than last year
>>522569737People with kids tend to buy christmas presents for their kids, as opposed to buying them for fellow adults.Fewer kids = fewer things being bought
>>522567081people are spending more but actually bought lessvery misleading since it is inflation that is keeping profits high
>>522567081He's kinda right, people haven't been spending all year, they're only doing it now because everything is "on sale." Sales numbers will continue to go down after cyber monday ends.
>>522567081This is just an inflation indicator actually. People with money still buy shit when it’s expensive and the people without money haven’t bought Black Friday shit in years. Everything is 10% more expensive year over year so they can claim spending increased even when it’s flat
>>522569405The biggest black friday deal people are upset they missed was the giant TV of 61 boxes of mac and cheese.>https://www.the-sun.com/money/15562324/walmart-shoppers-devastated-65-inch-mac-cheese-deal-sold-seconds/
>>522572044So I work for a large sports fashion retailer in the UK at the main distribution centre and this weekend has been a bust, I dont have final figures but friday was only up 1% on last year, saturday was 15% down and sunday is on track for a double digit down.
>>522574033i flip small mid century furniture on the side and it is noticable there too. even the hipster 'student' folk are short now. not good.
>>522567081People are using credit they don't really have to comply with the "able" portion of willingness to pay.
>>522574033I don’t think sports fashion retailers are a lucrative money-making business. Even sports retailers in general over here are always dead inside and close after a few years and get consolidated. It’s gotta be a money laundering outfit. But maybe it’s more popular over there. I think it’s hilarious how you guys come over here and wear soccer jerseys like that’s your only fashion choice. We don’t even know or care about your silly little soccer teams
>>522575091it's about relation of current business to last year's business, as an indicator of spending behaviour. i think it's hilarious how you asssume all the english would dress in soccer shirts. you wearing lumberjack checkered shirts?
>>522567394It's not even profit it's revenue.
>>522567081who knows.could be that they saved up money throughout the year to spend it exclusively on black friday, because they can no longer buy shit outside of deal days.I would never take financial advice from grifters though. they aren't telling you some trick to get rich, they try to lure you into a trap to get rich themselves, by making you lose.
