What I'm trying to point out here is that we aren't talking about realistic options when deportation is brought up as a universal panacea -- it is simplistic utopianism which retreats into easy fantasy instead of taking up the burden of reality. I'm not saying we shouldn't try to make the world better -- to the contrary, I think a lot could be solved with only a few simple changes. Poverty and lack of opportunity, for example, are massive risk factors for criminality. Starving people are more likely to steal food; hopeless people are more likely to fall into criminal parallels. That sort of thing.

Until we either manage to move to a single payer system OR decide that it's okay that lots of people are going to die because they can't afford it, it's going to stay broken. There are too many factors in the system to justify blaming it entirely on nonwhites, although more people and not enough money will always be causal. Transit and prisons are also their own thing. As long as we maintain a prison culture of punishment over rehabilitation, we'll see big recidivism, unfortunately. It's as simple as that. We take people's freedom away and essentially torture them, and then we release them onto the streets with no support. This isn't a moral argument, for the record -- I'm saying that recidivism is the natural and logical consequence of the way prisons are set up. These are all extremely minimal takes on the issues you've raised, but can you at least see how "get rid of the brown people" might be a dramatic oversimplification of a bunch of intrinsically fucked up systems?
