It was more genuine and more honest. People weren't afraid to share their real thoughts and opinions. They weren't heavily censored. We didn't have fake PR/sales/marketing teams turning every platform into a commercial.

It was slow.

>>
do women with this appearance still exist? they seem to have faded after 2010
>>
>>522594596
Exploring the internet was like exploring the jungle. You were always finding these new and interesting websites. Now everything is homogenized and corporatized.

Forums were a lot better. The level of discourse was higher since there weren't any third worlders and being on the internet required some know how and dedication (can't find phone post while in line for goyslop). You could call someone a nigger faggot and no one got offended. It was pretty hard to get banned from these forums unless you were constantly rule breaking.

It was whiter, younger, much more about nerds and much less about women. It was also much slower and there was still all kinds of degeneracy.
>>
Few people from backwater shithole countries had access. Also, just as important, there was less corporate control and much more fragmentation. Instead of everything condensing around certain hubs like Facebook or Twitter, everything was much more spread out across many different forums and smaller websites. It hadn't become an extension of real life yet that all normal peopled used for their social lives and jobs, but was still something used to get away from real life, though the change there was already starting with stuff like Myspace. You can find an example of this in how people treated internet safety. In the past you were taught to never put your real name or any personally-identifying information on the internet. This was common advice given to everyone but now the total opposite is in effect.

Think of the wild west days as daylight. High noon and a beautiful day. Complete with light cooling gusts of wind and pleasant temperature.

Think of the internet now as 2AM and all of the demons and kike vampires are out and feeding in the middle of a shitstorm of political retardedness.

It is night and day different. Worlds apart.

I got online in the fall of 1996. Back then, it was more of what you imagine the internet should be. I could go on IRC dal.net and instantly find a girl (yes, a real woman) who was local and chat her up and go on a date. Met a few women IRL that way and me and my buddy had a channel on IRC where we basically met this NJ girls from #Chatzone or #Funfactory and chatted them up and met up with them at the mall.

You could play MUDs (I used to play one called Illusia) for free and they all had great user communities. You could call people fag and people laughed it off. Forums were all simple bulletin boards with no moderation or registration required...you had to verify who people were by their IP address, not user names.

Gaming websites were real back in the 90s too. You had dinky little gaming sites run by some fat, solitary nerd that actually knew his shit and up until the 2000s, most "nerd culture" sites were staffed by actual nerds who did it for the love of it. Like Zophar's Domain housing all the new emulators, or Andrew Vestahl's Official Unofficial Squaresoft page.

The real problem is, the internet got popular and mainstream by 99, and that "eternal september" became real. Corporations smelled money, and turned the web into a shopping mall full of ads, cookies, and mandatory logins.

I'd love to go back to the 90s web.

First it was dial up which was very slow, expensive and unstable. Then came the broadband but it was still pretty slow.
The whole internet didn't rely on a few big providers like cloudflare and amazon.
Social networks didn't exist, you had only isolated blogs and forums.
Tons of malware, porn including cp and gore everywhere.
Internet was considered to be for nerds and there were almost no normalfags and women.

>>522594596
That specific Reddit-like brand of Ultra Political Correctness and Wokism hadn’t necessarily metastasized so much.
It felt innocent and freer. Not so corporatized and restricted to a few major platforms. Instead lots of different various obscurer forums, blogs, image boards, felt more personalized, people could make their own dorky Geocities page but if it was on something other people were interested in you could actually google and find it, just obscurer stuff made by real people instead of mega-corporations.
You had to be a little dorkier to even be as much on the Internet in the first place, so maybe selected for somewhat less “normie” people.
Libertarianism was a big ideology. New Atheism, too (represented by guys like Hitchens, Dawkins, etc.) was pretty big, too, and its followers felt it was genuinely edgy and revolutionary for them then, but, in reference to the former point about PC (politically correct) culture, funnily enough many of these type of libertarians and New Atheists loved to criticize things from feminism to Islam lol. Still kinda proto-Redditors but with this edgier, less PC bent
It was more of the “Wild West” back then. From child porn to gore and disgusting shock videos, that’s more on places like /b/ though. And shocking your friends with lemonparty.com, 2 girls 1 cup, or goatse lol

I wasn’t there myself, I just made this all up.

Their search function is so terrible now it's unreal. You can tell it's on purpose too since it used to work. I don't think it's even meant to deliver results at all, just try to serve you mildly relevant sponsored content. Being able to find what you're looking for is probably considered a bug in the programming.

I got this but not the one you’re talking about, it’s also less replaced and more that their are far more of the brown hoard than their are whites so it was only natural that they’d overtake the mass user base. The mass problem we’re dealing with (yes Jews) is the commodification of the internet and the bigger websites eating all of the talent and bandwidth that use to go to smaller communities being able to congregate
>>
>>522594596
I spent a lot of time on a forum for a particular video game back in like 2007. Then a bunch of guys left and started a free-ware forum somewhere, where a bunch of us congregated. A little self formed community of like 30 dudes aged 11-22, mostly Americans, with a handful of other Anglosphere dudes. Normie internet existed, but it was pretty well isolated to Facebook / MySpace and Reddit/twitter weren’t a big thing. It was all much less centralized and male.

As annoying as that is, adblockers can't do anything about that since the uploader edited it into the video itself. So it's part of the video and not an external ad.

Normies ruined the internet sure, but third worlders killed it. Every online game nowadays has at least 100+ SEA monkeys and south american mutts scamming and begging for both in game currency AND real life currency. Fucking sucks, also you could call someone a "fag" or "retard" and most people wouldn't really care or they'd laugh it off, nowadays if you use those two words we have zoomers both online and IRL having literal meltdowns.
>>
You had to be smart to use the internet. This made it the golden era. There was a time where search engines were so shitty you would spend time spamming random URLs to get a hit. Basically what trying to use the darkweb is now. I had to reinstall my OS all the time from random internet searching when drive by viruses were still a common problem.

So you did still have the trendys who knew all the same 5 websites - Newgrounds, Ebaumsworld, Youtube, whatever. And they'd all just talk about the same 10 videos every day.

Women got interested when Myspace came out, but even Myspace was a litmus test. Any bland bitch could make one, but they had to learn some coding if they wanted to personalize it. So it was probably the best time to be a nerdy tech savvy girl. Even Myspace wasn't as terrible as it eventually became. It wasn't about upvotes and hoarding friends. If I recall there was a hardcap on friends, and there definitely was no such thing as influencers like we see these days.

There was a lot more creativity too. The girls would do shit that was more "look at me" like myspace, guys would do shit like indie game creation and flash animations.

I miss it. Even pirating was much funner. Download the free version of Kazaa Lite, use it to download the paid version Kazaa - Just search for random shit and expose yourself to new music and games. Looking up AMVs expanded my music library immensely.

But it's never coming back. We got the internet that the corporations wanted. Originally most corporations turned away from it because it wasn't enough like television. They wanted it to be another idiot box with a few channels that a user could go to, and that's exactly what we've got now.

I started playing online in 1999. I was never very social so I didn't browse the internet that much until 2008 when I found imageboards as a substite to my crumbling social life. Before then I mostly visited very specific sites related to the video games I was playing at the time. I was very active on a relatively obscure forum for a finnish MMORPG. Shitposting was different then, more original, specific and witty, now it's the same everywhere, the same memes regurgitated ad infinitum. I guess the internet went to shit in the same way as the world around us, fucking globalism and american cultural imperialism. It used to be isolated pockets of different tribes and customs, now it's all the same corrupted mass everywhere you go.
>>
Everything was less serious.
No moralfagging

Basically, social media and allowing normalfaggots to spread their cancer to the internet pretty much killed the fun of it.

My dad used to whoop my ass because I'd brick the family PC and he'd lose a load of documents. Fucking thing ran Windows ME so it bricked itself and he still hasn't apologised.

This is completely bullshit, why do people say this? Meeting a real woman, yes nigger, a person who is provably a woman, on the internet in the late 90s and early 2000s was easy as fuck despite not every normalfag being on the internet at that point.
>>
>>522594678
Good morning, nigger. How are you doing?? doing, funny word... dooin, douing.. jsejsejsjsejej

No third world users, no social networks and therefore no mainstream narcissism and far less women. Jews ruined Internet with Facebook, Instagram, OF and porn websites.

The average Joe expressing his opinion on the internet didn't expect to get paid for it, they were just venting. Now that everyone who gets popular expressing their opinions online also gets paid for it, you cant trust anything they say is actually their own opinion anymore. Every single eceleb moderates their content to be advertiser friendly, so they've all become more and more bland over the years. The idea of being paid for just speaking your mind would have been retarded as fuck to internet users of the 2000s. You put your opinions on here because youre just some nobody and are grateful to have anyone else even listen and agree with you. In the late 2000s we used to call it "e-begging" when some losers started to ask for handouts just for talking on a camera, these people were universally mocked by internet users at the time. As someone who remembers these days I still cringe whenever I hear an eceleb complain about their ad revenue going down.

Coincidence?
I think not!

I met 2 different chicks and went to see (fuck them) in like 2003 and 2004. That didn't include local girls as well as all the random ones you used to get on grainy webcams and ask to see their tits in glorious 360p. Truly was a simpler time

No tattoos.
Girls not only didn't like rap music, they actively hated black "culture".
You could still fix your car with a hammer and a can of WD40.

My school tried to use Windows ME from the start of the year in September, it had mysteriously disappeared when we all returned from Christmas break. That poor bastard IT guy probably came in over Christmas to remove the curse.
>>522597525
I just realised, the Windows ME lot probably wouldn't have been online because it used to be such a cunt about fucking up its own drivers.

What I find funny is guys are posting all these images of girls back in the mid 2000s.
Now compare them to girls you see today.

It's depressing. Like I honestly don't know any girls without visible tatoos, and many have multiple tats, none of which have any theme or meaning.

>we were still building a digital, planetary nervous system instead of a global surveillance apparati.
That's probably the main thing, it was before the US went batshit insane on anti-privacy laws in the name of the great War on Terror. That properly fucked a lot of shit up.

>now it's all the same corrupted mass everywhere you go
unless you find and actually participate in the niche communities; normie v. underground Internet has always been a thing and while (((social media))) have gained a ton of traction I don't think these pockets of community have died, if anything this chinese basket weaving fed honeypot and all the other imageboards are living proof of that
>>
>>522594596
where's the black border and cringe font around it that goes "BOOBIES I herd u you liek them"

2008 internet was both cringe and the peak of the internet. No ads, social media, normie influencers.

All the zoomers girl do the "benzo/ssri" stare which some are genuinely drugged up and others are just copying them. I don't blame boys for not approaching them. We rarely saw girls like that when we were younger.

It's the reason why asian girls are so sought after. They are skinny, feminine, cute, and act pleasant.
>>
>>522598597
Because it's absurdly niche. You will end up with the same 2-8 people over and over again. What's the point of spending money on a server for some website that will only get 300 visits a month at best.
