Insider here.On December the 21st, they will be rejoining the portions of web3.0 that have been split for months. If you’ve noticed that there seems to be less activity on the open web recently then don’t suspect that you’re going crazy, you’re technically right. As of August 2023, they began a phase-in of algorithm bifurcation for many platforms such as YouTube and Spotify, with the driving thesis being that isolated layers of the internet are a necessity for the security of the general web space, sort of like maintaining crop diversity that you may resist a crop blight. The important part here is that they’re executing a test rejoining of the application algorithms and web layers during the Holiday season this year. As far as I’ve heard the idea here is to do this test during a very high-web-traffic time of year for “stress testing”.Feel free to screencap this post but you’ll definitely hear more about this before the 21st comes. The one thing I want help figuring out from you Anons is what is the “crop blight” here? What would layering the internet actually defend against other than the spread of ideas?Anyways, keep an eye out as the 21st approaches. It’s going to be a strange month.
