If Trump actually goes to war with Venezuela then it is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Americans to eliminate the Spanish language from public life. There are currently 60 million people who speak Spanish in the USA. That's 60 million too many. In 1913, there were probably close to six million German speakers in the US when the total US population was only 97 million. There are currently fewer than one million people who speak German in the US. It's time for American to repeat the linguistic repression that German suffered in the first half of the 20th century. It's time to go nuclear on Spanish.
