Even shortwave stations from Taiwan couldn't reach us. I think Australia got hit pretty hard too.

Its pretty normal. It gets clearer within a day. Radios use the ionosphere to bounce waves, and the solar flare makes that atmospheric layer "noisy" today so might have to take time.
