This is a war of attrition. Ukraine is a tiny country living entirely off gibs and bussifying its male population, but it can keep fighting as long as it bussifies hard enough and the rest of the world gives enough gibs. Russia is a huge country with vastly more resources but they're not getting any gibs; they are much less at risk of manpower shortage but they have to maintain their economy actually afloat (unlike Ukraine that can conscript its entire productive male population and survive entirely off of gibs money).If Ukraine will win it will be throught intensified strikes on russia's oil infrastructure (which they've started, but they'd need to manage to keep going and increase the rates) and then waiting a while for Russia's economy to eventually keel over. If Russia will win it will simply be through the flow of gibs not being strong enough and Ukraine's army eventually running out of everything.Territorial gain are almost irrelevant except for peace negotiations. People are like hurr zapo frontline collapse, durr donetsk frontline stalled, but in the long term literally the only impact of that is that if a peace deal was agreed upon today it'd likely use current borders and so advancing is advantageous for russians. Outside of that the best they can hope for is to stalemate it until the Russian population get bored of the whole affair. This offers a route for Ukraine to still exist at the end. As for us in the west, as I keep saying, its not about Ukraine winning (which largely isn't possible without our direct involvement, which isnt happening) but more about just making Russia look weak and ineffectual, especially to their own population, in the hopes of weakening Russias relative geopolitical position, or at best, making the Russian populace to want rid of Putin.
