Yesterday I realised the soviet movie "The Pokrovsky Gate" is perfect demonstration of redpill truths.

>Kostik the young Chad shows game, spinning plates, aloof concept, agree and amplify, kino, etc
>aunt Alisa demonstrates female hyoergamy - keeping the ex husband (beta bucks) around while engaging with soldier (alpha fux)
>solution? betas should look for younger women, like the young nurse, Lyudochka

>NATO Is Preparing to Confront Russia With Limited US Support: The worst-case scenario is now a possible one: European troops fighting off an invasion largely alone — Bloomberg
>As the White House pushes for an end to the war in Ukraine, its threats this month to shut off remaining military support for Kyiv raised the possibility of European powers having to defend Ukraine, and perhaps even the rest of their eastern frontier, with limited US backing.
>European officials are working to bolster their defense capabilities, with initiatives such as the Security Action for Europe fund and investments in local arms industries, but still face challenges in areas such as logistics and strategic enablers.
>It’s by no means clear the Europeans would succeed. Romanian and other European officials at the exercise in Cincu, about 260 kilometers (162 miles) north of Bucharest by road, voiced concerns about how long it would take for NATO allies to make it.
>Putin’s war is already spilling over the border into Europe in dangerous ways, from drone and missile incursions to cases of sabotage and arson for which politicians blame Moscow.
>German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul warned on Tuesday that according to Berlin’s intelligence, Russia could be able to attack a NATO member in the next four years.
>As Europeans witness their neighbor’s destruction, the US has acted on months of signals that it would reduce its military presence on the continent to focus on Asia, asking its allies in Europe to take care of their own defense.
>Behind closed doors, European officials have been fighting hard to convince their US allies not to withdraw forces. Washington has tried to assuage its partners’ fears, saying it won’t leave them out in the cold.

I'm in the bathroon now pissing but earlier I went out to smoke and the man on my right asked if I was not afraid of someone stealing my cellphone. I said I dont think he or she (the pretty fell dame) would steal from me and if they did I did not want to be there and left my phone by my beer, presumptious in my decadence.

What do I say when I return to my seat between the prettyy girl and the older man? "Ahhhh, that was a good piss?"

Yes. Especially after he fell ill and needed help. My dad was one of the kindest men I knew. He never punished me. He always talked to me like I was an adult from an early age. The jet-powered ones may prove even cheaper than the piston-engined ones in the long run; gas turbines aren't that complicated, and especially if they're disposable, can be produced in very large numbers for a low cost. Incidentally, things aren't made in small numbers because they're expensive; they're expensive because they're only made in small numbers.

I've thought for a few years now that the way of the future lay in mass-producing very cheap cruise missiles - that is, jet-powered ones. The piston-engined stuff was only ever gonna be a stopgap.

And this doesn't just go for relatively big and heavy and long-ranged stuff...one day soon, what amount to jet-powered Lancets will be as common as dirt, and very cheap, too. I'm sure electric FPV quadcopters and the like will still be used, but these things will be faster and have better payload-range capability and will be available in huge quantities, so they'll be used for a lot of missions; it'll be like the division of labor between, for example, mortars and gun-howitzers.

* You don't need "AI."
* Rice cookers qualify as robots; what makes a robot isn't whether it has a segmented arm with an end effector, but the fact that it's got a state space that it can move about fairly freely in; rice cookers and thermostats qualify.
* Lasers are limited to line-of-sight.

Leaving that aside, faster drones are harder to intercept. And jet-powered, fixed-wing drones will be able to fly further and to carry larger, heavier warheads - really-scary large-diameter HEAT charges, for example.

There's textbooks, and you can ask an LLM how to get started on the analysis. I guess the place to start is to figure out what the wavelength of the laser is.

This is what supersonic-hypersonics are for. We are still a very very long way from smaller laser protection. As with anything, weather still has effects. But its pretty clear that the way to win is spamming missiles, and fast.
>>
>>522757919
For the forseeable future, you'll mostly depend on lots of relatively cheap, but still fairly fast (mid- to high-subsonic) air-breathing cruise missiles.
>>
>>522757777
yea LLM tells you it's possible if you pulse the laser and have active automatic tuning of the wavelength, which chinese engineers claim to do in their military shows that get on youtube
i think that one of the things that allows china to implement mobile lasers is advanced battery tech, their big lasers like the ly-1 in picrel can operate nonstop on the battery power for over a day
this same laser is also used on the type-075 landing ship and it has it's own engines dedicated to keeping it running, these lasers would be perfect for ships will nuclear engines i would think
>>
ok seriously where my lil chipsters at
>>
>>522757068
>* Lasers are limited to line-of-sight.
If the defending laser is placed right next to the thing it is meant to protect, that is a rather meaningless non-downside. Build enough laser emitters.
>>
>>522757919
missiles and drones yea, china predicted that
but i will say that if you have a powerul enough and high-tech enough laser you can make it work in bad weather, china swears their lasers work in bad weather and as far as smaller and more mobile lasers are concerned they are way ahead in development on this compared to us largely because they are ahead on battery tech, you need some powerful ass batteries (or a big engine, but batteries are smaller and therefore more mobile)
>>
>>522753002
On my way to work. Early morning meeting as usual.
>>
>>522758041
>batteries
They might use capacitors and so on, but the *primary power source* is probably some kind of e.g. small turbine or diesel generator or something - that is, a liquid hydrocarbon fuel, which is burnt.

You can store a lot of energy that way, but you can only release it so fast - that's where the capacitors come in; you charge them over a relatively long period and then discharge them very quickly; this gets you whatever peak power you need.

>>522758133
That will get expensive pretty fast.
>>
>>522758134
chinese lasers completely failed in testing, saudis bought a bunch and said they were worthless
>>
>>522753930
Im afraid to ask why..
>>
>>522758195
Not any more expensive than having a missile-based defense system, where each interceptor is a small (large) fortune, are spent in multiples to intercept a single incoming warhead, and are limited. Once AA lasers are a mature technology they pay their development back with dirt cheap firing costs. The other guy talking about mass production of jet turbine drones being cheap once they are mass produced (not the other way around) could apply that exact same talking point here too.
>>
>>522758195
the lasers in my pic runs on batteries, the truck is mostly batteries i suspect, it also has diesel engines to charge the batteries but obviously that takes time

the farther the laser can reach the better because the more time you have to burn hostile objects, but yes your point is correct
>>
>>522758351
can i get a source on that?
>>
>>522758312
You can make interceptors very cheaply, too. They're based on much more mature technology than directed-energy weapons, and they can hit targets over the horizon. I'll believe it when I see it - which might come to pass.

I should add that if you can build very powerful lasers that will destroy a drone at a certain range, you might be better off using the technology to build *illuminators* as part of some kind of fire-control system.

Also, absorption by the atmosphere might put a hard upper limit on range.

>>522758341
Have you got an e.g. TG post or video or something?
>it also has diesel engines to charge the batteries but obviously that takes time
The diesel engine is the primary power source. Batteries can only store energy.
>>
>>522758134
Yeah but we havnt seen them put lasers on their tankes when they showed off APS in the traditional sense. So were still quite a decade or so at the very least until it gets down the the infantry level. That might be 6th gen tanks. China is coming out with the new 5th gen tank and its not going to have lasers. But yeah, China is clearly ahead in building new iterations of ground vehicles with all the bells and whistles. They even put Hybrid Electric engines in the new Type 100 . They will be the first ones to put lasers on their tanks.
But they already got them on medium sized trucks. Also Pantsir is adding a laser complex too. So the tech is definitely shrinking.

>How the fuck was it going to make sense to burn NG to generate hydrogen gas, in the UK of all places?
How does it make sense *anywhere?* Just burn the natural gas.

Leaving that aside, what the *fuck* is the point of hydrogen as a fuel in *any* application, except perhaps rocketry?
>>
>>522756431
This meme but all three are supporting thd
>>
>>522758469
>The diesel engine is the primary power source
no, plugging it in to a high powered wall socket is the primary way of charging the batteries, so the primary power source is whatever is feeding the grid, but at sea presumably the ly-1 mobile truck version relies on the diesel engine somewhat
the shipborne version uses batteries and the ship has engines dedicated to powering all the electronics
>Have you got an e.g. TG post or video or something?
the ly-1 in the picture:
another, smaller, more mobile laser truck:
>>
>>522758392
Of course, but another way to do that is just more lasers all pointed at the same thing. Blimps floating above any camp or fortification that is too big to camouflage can be raised platforms for having laser emitters high up with a good view. Hang a cable down to the generator network on the ground. You know those large WW2 German AA towers? Maybe the concept could be revisited with prefab skeletal laser turret towers plopped down wherever possible.

>>522758469
I am pretty sure 5 mil USD interceptors can never be considered cheap.
>>
>>522758519
>Yeah but we havnt seen them put lasers on their tankes when they showed off APS in the traditional sense
correct, but they do have dedicated laser robots and tracked machines being made
perhaps we will never get a meaningful AA laser on a tank, but china already has laser air defense machines meant to protect the tank
>>
>>522758723
You can build a cruise missile for a few tens of thousands of dollars; they're no more complicated than a passenger car.

A pure command-guided interceptor is a lot simpler than a cruise missile, just so long as you can mass-produce the motors - but that's old technology.

sure, the more lasers the better
but then you need more power, so a nuclear engine is ideal, and china's next gen battle cruisers are probably going to be nuclear powered so they can do it
>>
>>522758767
>You can build a cruise missile for a few tens of thousands of dollars
one can, sure, can we?
>>
>>522758587
Then you use legacy AA methods. Or trust that China figured out how to pump enough energy in pulses to mitigate the problem. And looking at it from a different perspective; IF you are able to stay mobile with these defensive lasers, on trucks and tanks and everything you can stick them on for example, then you should attack while it is not foggy and press the advantage against an opponent who can't deal with it.
>>
>>522758719
>no, plugging it in to a high powered wall socket is the primary way of charging the batteries
That's nice, if you're somewhere that's wired for three-phase power...I guess that's easy enough to arrange if you're defending the homeland.
>>
>>522758628
If you had excess renewable/nuclear power production, it might make sense. Of course, that's not really the situation for anyone on Earth now.

It might have advantages over batteries. I dunno. It's obviously just graft at the moment.

>>522758519
It's one thing for a specialized AA platform to have a laser weapon. It's another for a tank to have a main gun AND a laser weapon. Tanks are a challenging design problem and won't be using laser weaponry in our lifetimes.
>>
>>522758858
