Anyone remember communists took over a few city blocked in Portland, and then used the famous cardboard trick to quickly fertilize ground for a garden, and /pol/ went nuts posting the picture everywhere without realizing they were gardening exactly the right way?Was funny because many of those people were pretending to be farmers, homesteaders or other rural types, but they were full of shit.

Cardboard can be used to kill or suppress weeds like a mulch or as a temporary container for soil that then breaks down for a raised bed e.g. filling cardboard boxes with soil and planting them so as to create a raised area so some of the roots can stay dry and not get flooded. Their garden was pathetic. I've canned so much tomato sauce this year I actually succeed at what I do plus I grow organic heirloom varieties that are rare.
