Ryobi is better than any American brand named junk. It’s kinda amazing how Americans can’t make anything of decent quality or value anymore. Must be the non whites and drug addicted white millenials and zoomers.

If you are a mechanic the m12 stubby is a God tier impact wrench. So I went M18 & M12. Ryobi is okay for changing tires.

>>
Liar. Makita is still decent but defemitly a step down from milwaukee and dewalt and ryobi is barely above budget bands like craftsman and black and decker. Hitachi used to be quite good, especially their corded saws, but aren't on the same level since they sold their tool division and were rebranded as metabo hpt and are probably a bit worse than makita but better than ryobi. Actual european metabo sans the HPT is still solid though. Milwaukee is probably slightly better than dewalt which is honestly also owned by black and decker but it's their higher end stuff and i like they can take a beating so prefer them. Milwaukees modular packing system is probably the best so the big brands though. You've got high end stuff like hilti too but a greenhorn showing up with a bunch of brand new hilti tools would look like a larping fag financed by daddys money and since battery systems lock you in ifnyour in general construction it's probably better to go for a less specialized brand with a wider range of tools available anyway. For your average joe in the industry it's basically team yellow or team red. You've got more flexibility with corded tools and aren't so locked into a brand there though so you can play to different manufacturers strength as you please there.
>>
>>523595005
Tools have never been discussed once on this board until I bought some recently. Christmas gift to myself. Is my mossad agent trying to influence me in some way? Probably.
>>
>>523596438
>For your average joe in the industry it's basically team yellow or team red
Yea if you work then you need the cheap crap that works until it breaks after a year. The slightly more expensive jap stuff is for diy people that want quality and affordability. I don’t know about Bosch.
>>
Actual tradesman here with 26 years under me.
Dewalt, Makita, good stuff, not enough difference between them to start fangirling over brands.
People buy what they have batteries for or whoever does the best deals.
Milwaukee is good stuff but over priced and over hyped.
Ryobi is pretty decent for DIY.
>>
>>523597130
Bosch have two tiers, green for DIY and blue for pros.
I have a few of their blue gear, a cordless screwdriver and a digital level. It's ok but I wouldn't call it great

>>
>>523597140
Pretty much. I do think makita is slightly lower quality but ultimately agree and the same could arguably said about dewalt vs milwaukee and dewalts still my preferred brand. I do miss old hitachi though.
>>
>>523595005
Makita is obviously intended for professionals. Milwaukee tools are China-slop manufactured for a Father's Day special price point at Home Depot. $129 special, impact driver, drill, and cordless circular saw.
You can get away with buying a tile saw or an airless paint sprayer at Harbor Freight for home projects but if you work in the trades just bite the bullet and buy good tools.
>>
>>523595005
most milwaukee shit is sold by chinks lmao

Nearly every toolbrand "made in america" is a meme unless it's a forged handtool.
>made in Japan ryobi
How do we tell him? If Japan actually made these they wouldn't break every year.

>>523595349
I have almost never been disappointed in a ryobi product. Their compact battery miter saw is literally a godsend for trimworkers.

>>523597264
>tiers

So basically almost ever powertool brand does this shit and it's to make a quick buck off the unknowing consumer. Even Ryobi does this, you can typically only get their
>performance grade
tier shit online. Basically if the tool is in a normie department store it's almost always
>consumer grade
DeWalt does this
Bosch does this
I don't think Milwaukee can do this because they would still manage to charge out the ass for a shitty consumer grade tool and no one would buy them.
>>
>>523597140
The milwaukee fuel 12v stubby impact does look pretty nice. I'm thinking of picking one up. Not sure if I'd prefer a 1/2" or 3/8" though.

go for 3/8", anything big enough to justify bumping up to a 1/2" socket would probobly need to be done with a bigger 18v impact wrench.
>>
>>523597767
you don't need a 3/8 impact, just get a 1/2 with an adapter or buy an electric or air ratchet
>>
>>523597767
go 3/8, anything 1/2 is practically air wrench

>>523598027
I know, I'm just saying the others do it without changing the color. They change a few letters or numbers in the model number disingenuously. IMO Bosch should either stay in tools or consumer electronics/appliances, not both because it's eventually going to result in them making black and decker tier shit.
>>
there are plenty of youtube channels that extensively test tools
milwaukee and makita are typically up there consistently as some of the best. even dewalt has some good stuff but once you buy the batteries you're locked into a brand's ecosystem

>just get a 1/2 with an adapter.
I already have adapters and some very complete sets of sockets. I been thinking this is the way to go. But... The 3/8" might get in a few tighter spots, especially with the low profile nano sockets.
>>

I've got an old miter and chop saw but that's about it. I do mostly carpentry now. Started in the family waterproofing buinesses but digging is the one thing i just really don't want to be doing so i found my own niche. "Going to work with dad" as a kid often ended up being essentially child labor with a lot of digging so I've got a strong distaste for it.
>>
>>523595005
b&d is home use tier and everybody knows it, I don't understand why you would even bring them up
ryobi is good for a tradie's first set of tools, same with milwaukee barring a few exceptions
delwalt is universal industry standard, makita for drywall and some other niches, hitachi for framing nailguns, hilti for nailing steel to concrete and T3 for light gauge shit
hilti also makes a lot of cool shit like rotating laser levels for doing tbar

They think just because it's owned by Stanley automatically makes it Craftsman tier. The same people know tools so little they think Craftsman made bad tools too. DeWalt is the "it just works" tier of tools that doesn't try to be too "innovative" and when they are it's actually useful and not just shedding a gram of weight you'll never notice.

Dewalt is standard for american tradies. Black and decker is walmart tier, when you want the cheapest version of a tool you can find. If someone has a milwaukee then they got a deal on it. They’re alright but for retail you’d just buy a dewalt instead. Lots of boomers like craftsman because back in the day sears used to sell craftsman tools with a lifetime warranty, but it’s barely above black and decker. Ryobi is just… why. You either use your tools every day or you use them a few times a year. There’s no mid range user so why have a mid range product? I guess batteries, they make every fucking thing you could think of.

They used to be great when they didn't take themselves more seriously than the tool quality they provide. I rarely if ever get coupons anymore and there's hardly any freebees. most ryobi hold up for decades for home use and they are great for exactly this.
home use.

in industrial use they are notorious for not lasting.
so just admit to yourself what you are using it for and you have the best answer.
nothing wrong with ryobi for its intended purpose.

for the record though ryobi fucking sucks especially for its drill bits, etc.
i always recommend someone buy the starter set ryobi bit collection because of how cheap it is and so they understand the difference.

i implmeneted a "no yanks" policy around eight years ago. we refuse to deal with any americunt vendors (aside from apple), and only service wholesale clients in jewsa (no terms, tt/loc only). that eliminated 80% of the fuckery instantly, and contributed substantially to the bottom line.

Don't buy those kits. Buy individually

These companies will have like 3 versions of each tool and the kits get the gimped versions to make it seem like a deal
I can tell you the DeWalt kit has the shitty drill with the plastic chuck and no hammer function
The impact drive is probably the mid one too, and they upgraded the oscillating tool to have a 3 speed selector which might be worse for some applications vs the original the has the entire range on the trigger at all times. The oscillating frequency is critical for what you're working on. Difference between hot knife through butter and not even cutting.
Those batteries are shit tiny ones
>>
>>523609603

The Snap on 14.4 ratchets make more power than M12 models, which are mostly marketed as High Speed. The tests I ran on a 3/8 NC bolt had the M12 1/4 HS get blown out of the water by the brushed 1/4 snap on, which has since been updated to brushless with the modern "ring" shaped light. The insider has an odd stutter under high load but is a nice option for the mostly 3/8 long neck customer who uses 1/4 occasionally. The problem is the Snap On batteries, chargers, and tools themselves are much more expensive while also having a worse warranty. The impacts don't seem more powerful than the M12/M18 models. The screw guns with the rocker trigger are great for interior work though. I have snap on ratchets, M12/M18 impacts. With the new higher output M12 ratchets scheduled for 2026, if a snap on ratchet fails I will likely try those.

My snap on ratchets have had generally lesser reliability, trigger issues, compared to the M12 which simply work and work and work. The only repairs the M12 has seen are worn out detent balls which can happen to any ratchet when it's used daily for 5+ years. That said the 80ft/lb snap on is an animal and powers through a lot.

Bad image search on my part, meant to post a ryobi to dewalt adapter. Ryobi at least never changed their battery types. Dewalt changed to the slide because in all the innovative ideas they applied to tools making the battery stop falling out was too challenging, even despite the fact they weren't NiCd anymore. They also do not make as many battery tools as ryobi (ryobi has over 300 at this point). Though I will say as a caveat they make shittier, heavier and shorter lasting batteries than all the others. You need to at least get 6ah/8 ah ones to stand up to others 4ah.

I just bought a DCA as a cheap household alternative to buying a Makita. I am impressed with it so far. It had a reasonable sale price. I paid half the price I would've for a brand. Same torque, power, revolutions, and the battery life is good. I needed a new drill for home DIY, a couple of pictures and a TV bracket etc into masonry and wood. It made sense cordless electric, two battery, hammer, mid range, 21 torque settings. If heavy duty commercial yea Makita every time. Dewalt everybody has and a lot complain, batteries or something. Who knows how long it will last. It did the job. Happy.

>>
>>523633770

It's a Chinese alternative. It's called DCA and is picking up traction as a cheaper alternative on the market. I had tradesman come around I asked and researched. I compared prices and brands. In the same bracket power settings battery life functions it was half the price. I am not a commercial user putting thousands of screws in a day. When I was or around it was dewalt everywhere and everytime, and the same bullshit of where is the battery it's out. Changing to Makita everybody swears by. As a home DIY user I didn't want to pay Makita bucks. Double the price. I researched and found a DCA the mid range model in the same comparison had good reviews. I am impressed with it. No I have not stress tested it. No need.

I read the rest of your post after I replied. I'm glad your happy and it's working.
I do a bit more than tv screws, I use my DeWalt flagship drill to jack up cars and have even busted the factory Jack with it, that fucking scared me, it punched the back out of the metal on the jack and the car fell. Sorta my fault because I was lifting it with the jack on a cinder block and it's not meant to lift from that starting height but I needed it to get a control arm off. Had to have the handle on the drill and even then it fucking stalled so I just turned it like a tire iron and there was a loud noise like a gunshot and the càr just dropped. I found the broken piece of the jack on the other side of the road
Drill still runs fine LMAO

If I was just putting on tv screws I wouldn't care, so no disrespect.

He's not wrong. Most decent companies will provide work wear too

Had an old rigid hammer drill that crapped out after 4 years of installer work. I beat the ever living fuck out of it. We use milwaukee and dewalt cordless tools for work doing paving/excavation. Now for equipment we avoid leeboy(fayat group), kohler small engines, and kubotas(janky controls too much play). Luv me Wirtgen, Hamm, cat, bobcat, and weilers. My only complaint is there are not enough cup holders on any of those machines.

fagniggers who don't actually own tools will tell you to buy festool because their favorite youtuber who makes "live edge river tables" makes ads for them. great quality but you dont need it unless youre actually making bespoke stuff. if youre in the trades just buy what makes sense. these tools are all disposable anyway, no matter how the hell you cut it. the only thing that will outlast you is a makita skilsaw from the 90s, everything else is equally junk just some have better warranty options than others

My Friend has a Dewalt he swears by. He is a builder and does your complete description constantly, daily. Another builder friend I helped out with his big home renovation, had problems with his Dewalts. Batteries constantly on charge, always on charge, power diminishing. He changed them to Makita and was chirpy. I had the engineers out for lines, and they had to do the heavy duty straight through the outer wall stuff, Makita. Plap plap in there.

I literally needed a replacement for an awful black n decker that the chuck broke on masonry doing the wall mount. I needed a replacement, my mate would've done with his Dewalt anyway. But it's kind of important having a drill for fastenings. I prefer using a screwdriver for home stuff, traditional that way, I hate threading, drills can slip more. I just watched it with an idiot fitting a wardrobe with a hammer drill and nothing lined up, and it threaded. This asshole shouldn't have been employed, and cost his firm a refund. Another dewalt.

I needed something for home usage, but functionality. I didn't want to pay big commercial brand, bucks. I researched it. I am unclear on it. I've not gotten to heavy stress testing. Except it did the job the previous black n decker chucked out on. On comparison matched in its functions. Simple home use. Mid range DCA had the same functions, torque, battery life. Otherwise Makita or Dewalt. Except Dewalt in experience have more battery problems. I would've picked a Makita. But the bucks.

You sound esl or incredibly drunk
All batteries go to shit after enough use, lion is only good for a few hundred charges.
And they should have been using an impact driver or screwdriver to put cabinets together, a drill is for drilling.
>>
ITT tradie wagies from the midwest trying with all their drunken football rivalship cow tipping might to hate on milwaukee because they perceive them as expensive.
>>
you realize makitas sold in the us are not made in japan, but china, right?

RIIIIIGHT?
>>
>>523603426
This nigga thinks black & decker still make power tools

Nobody thinks Milwaukee expensive, dumbass.
What even are you that you got that impression?

he probably saves the walmart hart brand for special occasions

>>523632912

I spent a long time on it. Literally hours before purchase to do a 5 minute job. Now I have a drill I won't use again until next Christmas. I researched the functions. I don't like buying crap. The Black n Decker wasn't mine. It was a family member's purchase. So I checked the torque, need a hammer masonry the previous drill went to chuck, it has two batteries, it had the voltage 21, it's 65 nm. It had some bits and drivers. It worked well. The same cost comparison by Dewalt or Makita was double or more. What do you do. On review of its model number it was all positive. It doesn't mean much today, bots. However there were Vidas by trades as well. Why not saved me buying a brand that doesn't get used much.

I am not drunk. You're an idiot. I am responding to a thread. I have not recommended for commercial usage.

I have agreed with the best brands. I rate at Makita and Dewalt. Except cost. Curiously I am curious on the brand I purchased.

I've got DeWalt and the difference between them and Milwaukee is the fucking Ford vs Chevy or coke vs Pepsi argument
You sound retarded, there much more expensive brands

Literally nobody thinks DeWalt or Milwaukee are rich person brands. They're better than most but get a fucking reality check
>>
>>523642196
>thinks ford is at all quality
opinion disregarded. midwest for sure. back to work, Cooper or Brandon
>>
>>523641850
You can't speak coherent English, you fucking gook bot
>I compared the newton meters to DeWalt
DeWalt doesn't publish that shit, their proprietary unit is "unit watts out"
You didn't research shit because you're a mandarin chat bot larping as a bong
>>
>>523642296
Dude just fuck off, you're way too late in the thread the for that larp and b8
>>
>>523642196
also i've said nothing about default.

they mainly copycat tryhards now. it's not hard if you're not a retarded house brand. their gears and bearings suck. but they last.

>>523642539
Coop! how many times i gotta tell you? get those 3 zyns out of your mouth, put your phone down, and get back to work! you can watch the game later

>>523595005
Lazy and bad work ethics. They cut corners everywhere and products barely holds together.
>>
>b-but milwaukee and ryobi are owned by the same parent company
And? The tools are still vastly different in capability. Ryobi 18 volt tools will shit the bed while getting eaten alive by milwaukee's 12 volt.
Lol
Lamborghini and Volkswagen are owned by the same parent company but you don't see retards making that cope comparison
>>
>>523627431
Husky is superior.
>>
>>523642758
Fucking Stanley owns b&d, DeWalt, made Stanley brand drills for shartmart, and I think makes kobalt and several others
Same point you just said. They aren't comparable. What they've done to b&d is a crime of such caliber which hasn't been witnessed since the Chinese bought Westinghouse
>>
>>523595005
never had a single issue with my milwuakee tools, just bought an ego 2 stage snow blower too. maybe you're just a fag?
>>
>>523595005
Why would you buy American tools? They're dogshit. You can get the same quality in China for a tenth of the price. Or good quality in China for the same price.
>>
>>523643064
This dude works a glory hole
>>
NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT THE REAL ISSUE:

All those plastic toolboxes? Now made in the same Israel factory. Milwaukee, Ridgid, etc...

Smell them. If they smell the same, guarantee you they are

MADE IN ISRAEL

Basically they're probably laughing at goys for buying plastic for insane markups
>>
I've heard and read so much bad shit about Makita, I don't know what to believe. Everyone makes them seem like they're a below mid-tier japanese brand, but I'm a weaboo so that doesn't sound right to me.

I'm not a tradie though. Availability is severely crippled in my country, so I have an assortment of tools from DeWalt, Black & Decker, Milwaukee, Parkside (obviously from Lidl) and literal chinkshit from Aliexpress. I only had issues with chinkshit and the occasional Parkside jank.
>>
>>523643152
My M12 hackzall really does not like cold batteries. I tuck them in my armpit for 5 second and she starts right up. Only issue I've had so far.
>>
>>523643318
probably dying cells from temperature swings from being left in a truck. lithium has specific temp ranges for charging, discharging, and storage. despite what the commercials say.
>>
>>523611331
You can get excellent quality in China too. You get what you pay for. America cannot compete.
>>
>>523643318
your other m12s probably just tolerate weak cells better, if that's what you're comparing against.
>>
>>523643270
Yea, the DeWalt shit is made there too
>>
>>523595005
I have no issues with Ingersoll Rand.

All this shit about pro tools is retarded. They don't sell professional equipment at Juan Depot. There's companies that specialize in professional tools

I'm doing service plumbing not framing entire buildings.
Smaller tools are more convenient when you're job is to get in, fix some shit and git /out/
>>
>>523643851
You're not heating that shit up in 5 seconds like a mama chicken
>>
>>523595005
I have American dewalt tools from the 90s that lasts forever, it's all Chinese now.
>>
>>523595005
Skill issue.

My Milwaukee tools I bought 5 years ago and use daily still work fine, even the batteries. Not even a brand loyalist. I could give less of a fuck what color tools are. Its just what everyone else uses so I use them for continuity. Maybe you should learn how to use tools. Or maybe you should stop being a limp wristed faggot and get some stronger hands so you aren't dropping them all the time.
