Trump has bought a Nuclear Fusion energy company

Fusion is a meme.

Just 25 years away bro

Fusion is a mirage, we can't produce the gravity and pressure needed for a stable fusion that is over parity enough to pay for the overheads. Quite simply the problem that cannot be solved is that stellar fusion is so hot, it destroys everything that is nearby back to its fundamental subatomic particles, and when that happens, it is impossible to have an arrangement at all.

The entire idea of: well, lets cool the rigging to absolute zero so it doesn't melt, is not an answer to this problem.

Fusion is 30 years away. The amount of rank deception in the entire field is beyond maximum tolerances. If tangential technologies fall out of the ass while attempting for fusion come out, like for example the rig that cools a thing to absolute zero for controlling stellar matter in a stream becomes a technology for the military, that's about all you can expect from trying to make star in a box.

They have a world renowned nuclear scientist, Dr Leonid Pavel leading the entire team. Will be interesting to see how it plays out, whether the entire thing crashes with no survivors.

Trump should bring back nuclear power to pwn le libs.
>>
>>523842340
Only because it would ruin our precious oil economy. It's very possible just not profitable for anyone in power right now.

What? Is it a mirage or is it 30 years away? You know 30 years is a blink of an eye, right?

>Trump and Elon spend the summer bashing fusion energy and cutting funding to fusion research
>PPPL has to lay off a fifth of its research staff, other labs hit similarly
>private fusion startups start tanking
>suddenly "oh, actually fusion is like totally cool and we're gonna start buying up all these startups that we kneecapped over the summer"
This is genuinely fucked up.

I'm sure it's a complete coincidence that the head of MIT's fusion research center was found executed in his home this week with the authorities already claiming they have no suspects or motive in the case.

If someone tells him how much crypto his families crypto farm can make off of a nuclear power plant he'd make it priority number one.

PPPL's combined physics, engineering, technician, student, and administrative staff prior to the start of the Trump administration was about ~750 people. After the NSF freezes and everything with the DOE (both of which are critical sources of sustained funding to PPPL) they had to lay off dozens of their physicists and engineers, along with an unspecified number of technicians and administrative staff. At least six theorists (out of a pre-layoff theory team of about 14-15 people), ~30 engineers. Support for a number of graduate students was also severely reduced and those that remain have stated in interviews that the cuts have seriously hindered operations; maintenance that previously minutes takes hours, machining of parts that took hours now takes week, and the increasing backlog of requests has caused multiple projects to grind to a halt. Total cuts for the lab as of the end of this semester put the new number of employees at around ~600, about a fifth of its pre-Trump staff.

It's the same story at a lot of other major labs and universities. My own graduate cohort (I'm at a program doing semiconductor research) was slashed from 12 to 4 this semester after freezes and cuts to research funding. /pol/ has been sticking its head in the ground the last six months about how much Trump and Elon have completely fucked American research.
