Now american chip company Micron says "memory shortage persists for entire year 2026"

https://www.theverge.com/news/847344/micron-ram-memory-shortage-2026-earnings

Shortage concers home memory.
(desktop home PC RAM, home laptop RAM)

There will be NO SHORTAGE for datacenter memory chips.

The new Indian CEO Sanjay Mehrotra made this forecast during the company's latest earnings call on Wednesday in USA, saying that "supply will remain substantially short of the demand for the foreseeable future."

The company posted record quarterly revenue of $13.64 billion, up from $8.71 billion in the same period last year. Thats because they make and sell lots of datacenter memory chips, everything they make is being sold as soon as its made.

Micron plans to boost DRAM and NAND shipments by 33 percent next year but acknowledged this won't meet demand especially at homes.

This shit is actually crazy. I have a roommate who rents a room from me. I have a computer, and he has two or maybe 3 for nerd reasons. The amount of RAM in our house became probably our most valuable shit in basically 2 weeks.

It’s all my fault guys, I’m sorry. I bought a gaming laptop a few weeks ago planning to upgrade the RAM right away. As soon as it arrived suddenly the RAM prices quadrupled and suddenly all these threads on RAM shortage that didn’t exist before. It’s entirely because of me, it’s only to screw me, that’s no coincidence. You’re all just collateral damage from whatever trickster demon is harassing me.

32GB is still enough for most applications

16GB can hit into troubles soon, if not immediately

Internet browsers with dozens of pages opened will eat up memory (bad optimization)

Another is games since 2020 (another case of bad optimization)
