What's the economic and political point of giving the public free access to AI? Maintaining data centers requires water, electricity, and workers who spend enormous amounts of money. Yet, using the servers is free. Websites make money from advertising, so how do AI systems make money? Is this a scam to extract big data from the public (creating a digital Moloch) or something more sinister?
