Will RAM prices ever go down or will ai overlords keep fueling the death machines of slop?
>>
what's with all the RAM price spam lately?
>>
>>523864912
Well, prices might go up, but your productivity should too if you're worthy.
>>
>>523864912
No probably not. If you don't bite the bullet now it'll only get worse. I just built my pc and spent a blistering 280$ for cl28 6000 ddr5 32gb
>>523865034
Its a clear indicator that AI is destroying the economy.

yes but that depends on one simple thing
you niggers stop being niggers and stop with panic buying
you dont need RAM today you dont need RAM at all
>muh model
fuck you let it run longer
>muh vidya
32gb is more than enough for next 5 years
>muh work
stop being jeet from Microsoft and do some optimization to your shit

Tech companies keep buying up all the RAM for their stupid fucking AI development programs

At least you're murican. I paid 490$ for a kit of RGB DDR5 32GB 6400 CL32. It's listed for 390 on newegg. Majority of PC parts in eastern europe are more expensive for no reason.

they don't want you to have a beefy PC that is able to run open source AI efficiently, so no, prices won't go down
>>
>>523864912
They're going to try to take control of computers against the goyim. You'll have a screen that's connected to the cloud and everything you need will be served to you. Most of the goyim will eat the slop up and the rest of the poorfags won't be able to afford it. Only Jews propagandizing other Jews and good goyim. The future internet will be a wasteland and I won't miss it at all.

I think that we are rapidly accelerating towards a point where AI is forced to collapse purely because of how parasitic it has become to every other aspect of the economy.
AI can be costly and inefficient in a way that is invisible to the average person, but the more intrusive it becomes the more of a backlash it triggers. AI costs people jobs, but as long as it doesn't cost ME the job that I have thats someone else's problem. AI is eating up land and costing us all more in water and power, but unless that extra hundred dollars a month is make or break for me that can be something i don't even notice unless I am paying close attention to my finances. The AI digital panopticon stuff sounds bad when I read about it in the news, but I don't notice it in my day to day life, etc.
People will put up with a lot of shit as long as its something they hear about happening to OTHER people, they only really care when it affects them directly. Now, RAM in and of itself isn't something most normies will care about. But as part of a pattern, this is how we go down the road of hitting the AI crackpipe too hard actually results in more expensive, worse products for people in the real world. Your next phone will have to be weaker and less functional because the parts that used to be plentiful are now expensive. Your next computer will require you to take out a loan to buy it, and the graphics card will have to be mortgaged separately. Etc.

Nobody likes chaptGPT enough to put up with this level of bullshit purely for the sake of AI, which isn't actually all that convenient and isn't generating any profit or benefit.

tldr: ram prices will go down, but not until after the AI bubble pops and we stop building new datacenters like they're starbucks.

>Its a clear indicator that AI is destroying the economy.
how though?
>>
>>523866141
The entire economy is propped up on a bubble. THE bubble, really. Ram is the canary in the coal mine. The aims and goals may be up for speculation but the end result is the same. Your 2010 samsung s8 is enough to subscribe to ChatGPT so it is what you will be allowed to have.
Using this indicator I decided a final 7 years of nice computational shenanigans were in order. But I am under no delusion I will ever upgrade or replace my new pc.
>>
>>523866290
How do you know it is a bubble though?
>>
>>523866343
Theres enough speculation to determine its a high probability. Our economy is in shambles and a joke. AI keeps numbers going up and makes everything look somewhat healthy. Don't worry. You really don't have to wait very long. Either it pops which is bad. Or it doesn't. Which is also bad.
I know things look bad right now.
But they're going to get so much worse.

I asked how you knew it was a bubble...
>>523866692
not watching youtube sorry
>>
>>523866343
Because it produces no profit, only GDP. It provides no services anyone actually pays for that match its costs. It can only burn money, and attract investors with the promise that it will generate money some day in the future.

This is logically not sustainable, but the problem here is that the bubble is eating everything around it. Its so aggressively expansionist that it offers better returns than actually doing anything else.
Imagine if, prior to the 2008 housing bubble crash, real estate was printing so much money that General Motors stopped making cars and instead invested that capital into just buying real estate company stock. Not actually producing anything tangible anymore, just sucking off of the growing housing bubble like a tick because it paid better than working.

Thats essentially where we are now. Mathematically, it results in more profits in the short term. But anyone with a basic knowledge of cause and effect can look at this and see how the more the economy becomes built on this one small handful of companies, the less functional the economy becomes as a whole. You can't stop building cars just because its more proftable to invest that money instead. We need cars.
>>
>>523866609
they just stfu
>>
>>523866708
Well you clearly have no desire to learn and might be clinically retarded so I'm afraid my explanation however underwhelming or uninformative will have to suffice.
Sorry, nigger.
You could try learning how to internet.
You'd be up to snuff in like 14 minutes.
>>
>>523864912
Micron, who made popular Crucial brand memory, decided that they aren't interested in silicon chip fab anymore. They want to get into AI. So in the supply and demand world, supply just dropped dramatically, and the profit margins went up. Higher profit margins mean an incentive for other chip makers to expand, or new fabs to start up, but it will be a decade until that lowers prices.
>>
>>523864912
Not just ram, I bought 2tb sandisk ssd for £60~ last year and the same one is now £160
>>
>>523866836
That assumes that the new manufactures do not also conclude that the money is in AI instead of personal computing RAM.
>>
>>523866781

It's crazy how much capital the US has access to compared to other countries, isn't it?
>>
>>523864912

this is going to blow back hard on the people going all-in on AI. One EMP is all that it takes to destroy several trillion invested dollars, and I for one will be cheering on the suicides of the money-grubbers that brought such an unholy misery unto us.
>>
>>523868178
It won't be EMP, anon. As AI continues to destroy the economy around it and be the excuse for why people lost their jobs and everything got more expensive at the same time, the probability of people burning down AI datacenters approaches 1. When people have nothing and believe that AI is to blame, the datacenters become the obvious targets.

AI Data centers are big, and expensive, and time consuming to replace. It is continual investment in these data centers that drives the infinite money glitch that is the current economic bubble. If data centers start getting taken down, that makes investing money into building more of them less attractive, immediately unraveling the bubble.
>>
>>523868450
Burn it all down. I run local models.
>>
>>523864912
>will ai overlords keep fueling the death machines of slop?

it will collapse when people release its just a language model and isn't true AI. it doesn't actually think for itself it just responds to cues.

the global government needs as much computing power as possible to simulate the upcoming battles with aliens
>>
>>523864912
The people with money will never let RAM prices go down, not combined with the increased prices of other computer parts. They have a vested interest in making PC building or even buying a pre-built machine with decent parts unaffordable, forcing everyone on to worse hardware.
Its done to force all of us to use cloud services across the board. They want to destroy privacy and ensure there's nothing you can hide. Beyond that it ensures they can dictate a subscription for all of their services keeping you stuck.
You'll own nothing and be happy, remember? That's what they want.
>>523865724
And it's this too.
>>
fuck this gay ass economy.
money stopped being real after 2020 and so is society. ai exists because the economy has run into deep recession since covid and there needs to be something to prep it up. in the end it's all about endless growth when in reality you could only stretch it this far before it collapses on it's own
>>
>>523864912
