Politico:

EU leaders failed to reach an agreement on using frozen Russian assets to provide financial aid to Ukraine.

Now, a joint loan agreement to provide Ukraine with €90 billion over two years is being considered. Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia, which oppose aid to Kyiv, are planned to be excluded from the general debt repayment scheme.

The new draft final statement of the summit provides for a temporary solution for medium-term financing.

In the final sentence, the leaders agreed to "provide Ukraine with a loan based on EU borrowing on capital markets, secured by EU budget reserves."

The result was a crushing blow for Merz and a victory for Belgian Prime Minister Bart de Wever.

>euros steal russian funds
Europe's reputation as serious financial center is completely demolished. All non-globohomo state and private actors pull their funds from there. Dubai becomes new financial capital of the world, Euros are left in their irrelevant retarded circlejerk.

>euros don't steal russian funds
Hohols run out of the money because zognald had already closed off the financial tap for them. Euros simply lack the means to fund it fully just by themselves. HATO suffers a major reputational hit because it's one proxy they've bet everything on.

Checked btw.

Only good if you are physically disabled and I mean serious impairment and not some meme diagnosis like autism or adhd. They subsidize a lot of the treatments and you get important medication practically for free without insurance scams being involved. Of course civilized nations could have had that without joining a federation ruled by unelected jew-owned plutocrats, but don't tell anyone that, you'll be told you are silly.

I heard, too. Was it actually a *regiment?* Perhaps someone's got a link to e.g. the original Russian Ministry of Defense announcement or similar, if there was one.

I ask because the S-500 - like the S-300P, S-300V and S-400 - is called "зeнитный-paкeтный cиcтeм" (as opposed to "зeнитный-paкeтный кoмплeкc"), and organized into battalions ("дивизиoн," which is the term for e.g. artillery battalions in Russia, and not a calque of "division"); if it actually is an S-500 *regiment,* it will consist of several battalions.

Something like the EU isn't necessarily bad for Europe. How it was sold to people 30+ years ago, back when it was called the "European Economic Area" was that when countries came together and agreed to things like a collective trade policy it would be beneficial to all countries, because by working together they could get better deals than if they were trying to negotiate with bigger players like US, China or Russia alone. It was also sold as better for business, because there would be standards and the same standard applies across all the countries.

That's how it was sold anyway. And 20 years ago people could see it do this slow creep towards more like a state. And NPCs of the era said things like "that's just a conspiracy theory". And bit by bit, treaty by treaty, they added more and more things to it.

Also if you look at any aspect of it, it has names like "president" and "parliament". The vast majority of normies assume that it is democratic and works like their country does. It's only when you actually look into it that there are just these small committed (often called "councils" that really decide things) and things like the "president" isn't elected by MEPs, it's just the council and of course they'll get elected if they're the only person on the "ballot" for this "election" with like 12 people voting that are her friends. Also the parliament doesn't even make any new laws, it's all these private corporate lobby groups that make them and the "parliament" can only vote on whether to approve them. If they don't like the result, they just tweak it and voot again until the right result. The same contempt is also shown for individual countries within the union. Where they will just tell the country to vote again.

They don't just do this with member states either, they've tried to do it w8th Switzerland and even did it with the Moldova "elections", where since they didn't get the result they liked they "asked" the votes of the diaspora which didn't actually vote because who in their right mind would vote for a country they haven't been to for years? So they just vooooted until they finally got the results they liked... and did nothing with it as per usual

The percentages look rather modest at first blush - among the red countries, let's take 1.62% for Poland; with that said, this isn't so modest when considering what GDP growth rates typically look like - a few percent a year is quite good; 1.62% of GDP might be half of annual growth, or something like that.

>An alarm is being raised in Ukraine: the "Oreshnik" missile system has been deployed in Belarus
>▪A. Lukashenko stated that the medium-range missile system "Oreshnik" has been put on combat duty somewhere in the country since yesterday.
>▪Earlier, he claimed that this system is mobile and will never be stationed in one place, which will make it difficult for the reconnaissance of a potential enemy to detect it.
>▪Immediately after this statement, panic spread in many Ukrainian media outlets about the fact that the "Oreshnik" could reach Kiev in just 1 minute and 51 seconds, Vilnius in about 1 minute and 40 seconds, Lutsk in approximately 1 minute and 44 seconds, and Lvov in about 2 minutes and 24 seconds.
>From a conventional stand point a large number of these would work also well to destroy European military bases if a conflict were to breakout.

(semi) ballistic weapon systems have a minimum strike time, and for an IRBM like the Oreshnik it will probably be somewhere around 10 minutes. They can't take a more direct and short approach when they're closer, the engines put out the same amount of delta V that needs to go somewhere, the trajectory can't be too flat and the missile bus needs time to target and deploy the warheads.

>>
>>523889889
>the engines put out the same amount of delta V that needs to go somewhere
This is true for solid rocket *motors.* It's only an engine if it uses liquid propellants. You can throttle down and stage whenever you like...

With solids, you can still stage early; I think you have to fire explosive charges to blow open panels in the casing of the motor that's running to make it go non-propulsive, and then you can stage.
>>
>>523889637
>They wouldn't need Poland to annex them. Integrating them into the single market would take care of it all by itself
This is true. However, the whole EU functions off of a system where the elites of different countries are promised certain things in exchange for going along with the broader agenda. I am sure that all of that Polish nobility in Poland are have been promised that they will receive their Kresy lands one way or another if they just go along with making Poland and the rest of the 3 Seas Initiative/ Visegrad Group countries into Western Europe's buffer zone between Russia and the "good" part of Europe.
De Facto annexation of Ukraine is the most likely outcome, with Poland and the rump state of Ukraine having some "special relationship" that blurs their borders.

I didn't know that. For what it's worth, a lot of literature on the topic does not make that distinction. First result from NASA:
https://www.grc.nasa.gov/www/k-12/airplane/srockth.html
The Oreshnik is likely based on the RS-26, so two solid stages and a missile bus.
>You can throttle down and stage whenever you like...
Technically, but I'd be surprised if anyone bothered integrating that functionality into the flight computers of IRBMs/ICBMs. Much less so for solids. It just serves no practical purpose and adds another failure point/design task.
Using these things at comparatively close range was never intended and should never happen.
I doubt the missile bus can even target the warheads while still within the atomsphere, and for the Oreshnik the reduced velocity doesn't just increase the probability of their warheads being shot down on terminal approach, the warheads are a largely kinetic payload, so reducing the velocity also reduces the damage they can cause.

Oh good! Then it will de facto ceding of territory under the auspices of a military stalemate where the Kyiiiiv government will cope by saying they will get back Crimea and Donbas some day in the future.
Whatever. North Korea / South Korea style DMZ and all that good stuff or former Yugoslavia style frozen conflict, either way territory will have to be ceded for the sake of pragmatism.
In the real world, no one gives a fuck about the law when it stands in the way of more straightforward mutually beneficial objectives.

Ukraine, by the way, has no agency in this. No one gives a fuck about their sovereignty.
It's been a puppet state since 2014, and the Westerners that are its puppeteers love the fact that it exists in a legal grey zone where it doesn't technically belong to the EU or NATO, it will likely never qualify to do so, but the parts under Kiev / Western control may as well be in the EU/NATO already anyway.
This legal grey zone is perfect for facilitating international weapons trafficking, international black market trade in human organs, international human trafficking, drug trafficking, arts/antiquities trafficking, and other glowie shit that always funds covert activity throughout the world.

In English-speaking rocketry, that's the convention; it's adhered to in technical literature.
>Technically, but I'd be surprised if anyone bothered integrating that functionality into the flight computers of IRBMs/ICBMs.
It wouldn't be *that* hard to do; software's very flexible.
>Much less so for solids. It just serves no practical purpose and adds another failure point/design task.
Using these things at comparatively close range was never intended and should never happen.
It's not that hard to do mechnically; I think, for example, the Pershing II had it. Even if you're not going to use it to drastically reduce your flight range, being able to shut down before burnout is still very useful - it makes it a lot easier to achieve a *specific* range, even if that's a large fraction of the maximum flight range.
The Oreshniks in Belarus aren't for use against targets in the Ukraine. Leaving that aside, I think you can fly a relatively quick short-range trajectory with a fairly high apogee.
>I doubt the missile bus can even target the warheads while still within the atomsphere
You get above most of the sensible atmosphere pretty fast.

In the original Russian - admittedly, I've got to go find an actual MoD announcement or something - it says дивизия (which is an army division) and not пoлк, which is a regiment. So, actually, there is *a* regiment - it's just that there's a couple of other regiments, too, probably, each of which consists of several battalions (probably three), the battalion being the basic unit of the system.

If it's launched from a warship, there's not much alternative; even if it's flying off a carrier deck, I doubt Shaheds or Gerans or Lucases are suited for catapult launches.

Here's something that will interest you, by the way:
https://wwiiafterwwii.wordpress.com/2017/05/07/twilight-of-catapult-aviation-after-wwii-pt-1/

If I'm not mistaken, catapults were originally used to provide e.g. cruisers the ability to launch floatplanes; they weren't used on aircraft carriers until after the war, when carrier aircraft got bigger and heavier.

Never really noticed that. Just checked two books, and the more technical "J. D. Hunley - The Development of Propulsion Technology for U.S. Space-Launch Vehicles" adheres to that, while the more pop sci-y "Ignition" by John D. Clark does not. Funny that NASA page doesn't either.

This may run on computers that have less processing power than a SIM chip. It'll probably need additional hardware even for liquid fueled rockets, which this isn't. And it's still an additionally system for a use case that should never happen.
>Even if you're not going to use it to drastically reduce your flight range, being able to shut down before burnout is still very useful - it makes it a lot easier to achieve a *specific* range, even if that's a large fraction of the maximum flight range.
That's for fine tuning before missile bus separation, I'd assume.
>The Oreshniks in Belarus aren't for use against targets in the Ukraine.
Obviously not, at least not some close-ish to the border. The point was that the "sub 2 minute flight time" point is bullshit.
>Leaving that aside, I think you can fly a relatively quick short-range trajectory with a fairly high apogee.
How? It's gravity that'll have to bring you down. The higher the apogee the longer your flight time. If you have excess delta V that is generally used to depress the trajectory, which shortens flight time. It's generally desireable, but obviously cuts into achievable range.

Sure, at that altitude it won't be a problem. The point I was trying to make is that you have two options to cut down your range if you deal with the full DeltaV:
- raise the trajectory, but that will increase the flight time as every bit of altitude you gain by doing so will have to be lost with gravity. A flatter trajectory means less distance your payload has to fall.
- suppress the trajectory, but you can only go so low before the atmosphere becomes a problem

You can do it less aggressive to some extent, by oscillating around your prograde vector, but the amount of Delta V you can lose with that is fairly limited. It's sometimes used when precise orbital insertion is needed for satellites, I think.

They call it an "energy management maneuver." It would look less drastic on something as big as an Oreshnik, but it's a definite possibility - and bear in mind that a THAAD interceptor is not a small missile, either.

There's several ways to effect thrust termination on command - it's best to use what are called thrust termination or thrust reversal ports. They had them on Minuteman and Pershing. You can also delay ignition after staging.

Finally, regarding trajectories, do bear in mind that you're making finite burns over an ellipsoidal, rotating Earth; I'd have to think about exactly how you'd arrange things, but this creates some additional possibilities compared to simpler models of projectile motion.

>It's sometimes used when precise orbital insertion is needed for satellites, I think.
If you have a solid kick motor or something, yes; if you've got a liquid propellant engine, you just throttle.

Here's something that'll interest you:

>Lmao which courts? The same courts that issued Netanyahu's arrest warrant?

Let me explain. Under international law, nation states have a higher status compared to people or corporate entities. Specifically, in that the wealth of nations is inviolate *even during times of war*. This is a principle that dates back hundreds of years, it's not something Russia thought up.
Thats the first part. Your gloating about international courts being like the ICJ re Netanyahu is misplaced because Russia's depositing of its sovereign wealth with the company Euroclear based in Belgium is covered under treaties that protect Russia's wealth.
That's the second part. The third and final part is that once Russia is not obliged to proceed against Euroclear only in Brussels. It can proceed against Euroclear in any juristdiction that Euroclear holds assets in, such as Singapore, Hong Kong and Dubai.
The bonus part is that courts in those jurisdictions will have not only legal grounds to uphold the principle of sovereign immunity, but that such a judgment would protect nationals and residents of that court's country from having their assets seized abroad AND will lead to cautious investors, including country-level investors, moving their money out of Euroclear and into other depositories that don't steal their depositors' wealth.
Hope that clarifies.

It's not about what they have in common politically.
All they really have in common is that they are on the periphery of a version of the EU that revolves around Germany. The EU is Greater Germany. He is trying to take off the pieces on the periphery and preserve the central core it is own containment zone. What you'll have left is a turbo woke liberal union of France, Benelux, and Germany. Engine cutoff is not always that precise and the throttle window is limited. Ending your burn while off prograde can result in over/undershooting your cutoff point affecting the trajectory in a way that's cheaper to compensate later on.

You can use e.g. something hypergolic and pressure-fed for the same application; those can be, and indeed are, throttled very readily, and designed for great accuracy.

>You can use e.g. something hypergolic and pressure-fed for the same application; those can be, and indeed are, throttled very readily, and designed for great accuracy.
Pressure fed is the important part there, staged combustion designs like the RD 253 of the Proton have pretty poor throttle ranges. Even pressure fed engines, especially bigger ones, usually have a lower limit due to combustion instability.

>No, mostly civilian second stage engines, like the AJ10, RL10, Aestus, HM7B and so on. Hitting the cutoff point precisely was important and not trivial for the JWST launch, for example.
It's not trivial, but it can be done. Some RL10 variants can be throttled over quite a large range; I think the expander cycle lends itself to that.

The reason I mentioned apogee kick motors in particular is because you mentioned nutating, or whatever you'd like to call it, to reduce average thrust by geometric means - that implies solids.

>This isn't a problem for IRBMs/ICBMs with a missile bus, of course.
Those usually have hypergolic engines. Incidentally, even if they're very small, they're engines, so that one speaks, for example, of RCS engines.

>ven pressure fed engines, especially bigger ones, usually have a lower limit due to combustion instability.
There aren't any very large pressure fed engines; they're practically all hypergolic, and used for in-space use, and designed to perform very consistently.

>Pressure fed is the important part there, staged combustion designs like the RD 253 of the Proton have pretty poor throttle ranges.
Yes, but those are mostly used in a very different application.

RCS engines, by the way, are designed to be capable of being fired very briefly - if necessary, many many times repeatedly in rapid succession - in order to deliver some precise impulse in many small increments. You can do that with somewhat larger hypergolic pressure-fed engines, too - the kind you might use to, say, circularize your orbit in GEO. In general, your upper stage or spacecraft will have RCS as well as a relatively large engine for translational maneuvers, so you can use the small things for fine adjustments, but everything is designed to be quite precise and accurate.

Angela Merkel and others are on the public record admitting that the Minsk agreements were just to buy time for Ukraine to re-arm, train more forces and keep building up its defenses (all with help from NATO countries). So it makes no sense why Russia would ever agree to a Minsk III type agreement, when the same thing can just happen again for the third time. Logically it makes sense why they decided to go for this attritional warfare, which is not only destroying the AFU but also any NATO gear that could be used in the future and both things will take many years to recover, the latter even longer since Ukraine is being fucked demographically. And after paying such a high cost, Ukrainians won't be thinking: yes, let's fight Russia again, go through 5 years of having our country bombed to shit, millions dead or fleeing, that was fun last time. SBU killed the ukrop negotiator who was actually going to accept the peace deal

Kherson was an overextension, the Russians were right to retreat. They're doing the opposite of the Ukrainians who piss lives away for land.

Russia is taking their time and taking notes on what kind of military tactics/technology the West has to offer. They're letting Western countries reveal themselves. They could take all of Ukraine in a few months if they wanted to. But they're more interested in seeing what kinds of shitty technology and outdated tactics the West have. So far, it's Colombian and Polish mercenaries, hohol drones, and UK/US military tactics. It's only a matter of time before Russia responds with Spanish speaking and Polish/hohol speaking mercenaries of their own just to troll the West. Russia might even use captured Western military hardware against the West/hoholistan for the lulz

i think hyhyls aren't getting out of it alive at all
at the start of SMO they were offered with a chance to rethink their actions
but then once it all entered into a prolonged stage, once hyhyls demonstrated that they all are united with their zhid masters and nuhzee military in one purpose (not even a goal) to suicide by Russia, i suppose they are written off as any sort of a negotiation-capable entity
the whole idea of hyhylity must be destroyed, not necessary by force, so if there is to be any piss deal, the terms will be made so that hyhyl destruction must continue by other means
now, any pause in the actual war will be, of course, used by gayros to regroup and rearm to attack Russia once again, that's a given
but having seen their performance last 4 years, they just emptied their stockpiles and have barely produced any significant amount of weapons to replace it
like, they gave away pretty much all the armored vehicles they could, but where is the new production? there is none
they are exercising in producing some terror attack stuff made out of aliexpress-bought-parts, while Russia is busy making lots of gayropoor-destructive stuff
so if any war to happen, gayropoors will achieve yuge media-peremogus, while Russia will btfo their whole infrastructure

I ask the same question for myself

I honestly love the northern Scottish clifffs, and I love the fact there are no "urban youths" up here... I go to the shop and I say "hello" to neighbours walking their dog...
I saw my next door neighbour left his electric car running so I knocked on his door and told him about it, so he can stop the carand save energy....
Can leave my door open (in the future it won#t be possible anymore again)....

>The Financial Times and AFP report that EU countries have failed to agree on the use of Russian assets.
>The money will be borrowed under the guarantees of the EU's general budget. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz explained that Ukraine will have to repay this loan only after Russia pays compensation to Kiev. If Russia refuses to compensate for the damage, the European Union will use frozen Russian assets to repay Ukraine's debt, said the chancellor.
They literally think the Russians will pay a dime for Ukraine?

This. I believe the real reason the US left Afghanistan so quickly was because a new threat assessment showed that Taliban would be having drones soon. And that would have simply massacred the international presence in their bases. There would be no defence.
