Sticking with the letter of the law, abusing people because the letter of the law says what's a violation and nothing else is legally allowed to interfere with that, is what leads to a plethora of justice violations committed by judges.
There's that case of the guy who spent 20 years locked up in his room by his stepmom.
He set fire to the house to get out. When recovery workers weighed him he was 68lbs and suffering from wasting syndrome.
The stepmom wants him back. The stepmom needed the guy's personal information on his new whereabouts to "prepare properly" for the next set of hearings about the abuse she and her late husband committed.
That guy lost 20 years of his life to this woman, 20 years of being locked in his room every single day, having to drink out of a toilet and being fed nothing but scraps while the stepmom's own daughters got to go to school, got to works got to eat, got to go outside.
The judge gave her his new address and contact info.
Was that the right move? Hell no. Does the law say so? Hell no. That's why laws are incomplete, impractical, and can't be used exclusively to perform justice.
But if you're a good person, that won't be a problem, just adapt to the situation.
